If they don't pay the going rate in transfers or wages then we'll be told to fuck off by clubs and players alike. Hopefully they'll be realistic and meet the market. -

Probably because they do fuck all until the window is due to close. The paoers always refer to "preparing a bid" but what does that actually mean? Probably that the fat man will let you send a fax with "ok we'll give you 9 million sovs for cabella, squire" scrawled on it

Who the fuck knows how they do these deals. My impression though is that we're low ballers and bargain bin rummagers. So we'll be disappointed more often than not. I suspect the days of a club selling us a cabaye on the cheap are long gone - the likes of montpellier see us coming a mile off

I dont believe we were ever seriously interested in Gomis this time round - he's too old at 29 or whatever to fit our stated profile and I expect his agents would have priced him out of the bargain bucket. Seems to me all the paper talk has been fuelled by his agents but I cant recall a transfer since shefki kucqi thats been near 30 years of age.

I think we probably are in for the likes of Cabella but only if we can get them for a bargain price. That approach paid off with Cabaye but French clubs seems to be wise to us now....as we're seeing with montpelliers refusal to do a quick deal before the WC. I do think we risk losing out on our top targets if thats what we're doing because other clubs will make more credible bids.
