It's telling that our Board now quite openly state that their only objective is to stay in the PL, as if that was an end in itself. It's a manifesto for perpetual mediocrity.....and underlines what we already knew, that we have no interest at all in competing for anything other than survival from year to year. The cunts. I suspect most PL clubs are the same.....no ambition beyond keeping their snout in the PL trough. We would love to be in Spurs position, yet their main ambition imo is to break into the top 4 because that's where the CL riches are. Because these days that's the definition of a successful club.....if you're not in the CL, you can't compete because of the money the CL clubs earn. Which will always make you an also ran. In the meantime we watch cup games treated like training matches for second string wannabees and an exercise in avoiding injuries. No wonder the players don't give a shit and every year see our hopes pissed on usually by the third or fourth round. Why take the cups seriously, the Board doesn't, the players don't and the manager doesn't, because his focus is the league and avoiding the sack......so we're only ever competing to stay in the league against the other also rans. Where's the fucking hope? I think the general hopelessness and apathy of supporters together with swingeing prices will sooner or later kill the spectacle that made the PL prime TV fodder in the first place. I think hope is the biggest underestimated currency in football and in that sense we are heading for bankruptcy, no matter how much the directors fap over the balance sheet behind closed doors. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if in the future Sky use canned chants and fan footage to add atmosphere and compensate for the empty seats and dwindling support. So in answer to the OP, imo the answer is no.

Kenny Sansom, Phil Thompson, Butch Wilkins, Graham Rix apparently

I fancy us for the win based on form and home advantage. Would be nice to put yet another one over their alcoholic manager Mrs Doubtfire......and the universal law of Karma dictates that their appalling goal celebration cannot be allowed to go unpunished

young players who you were sure were gonna make it.......but didnt.

It's probably a pipe dream to get rid of Ashley. I don't think he'll be happy until he's done fucking us and for some reason I don't feel we're anywhere near the money shot yet.....
-
Ideally one of the richest men in the world and a massive footy fan to boot. Football's fucked we may as well have someone who's happy to buy success and bugger the cost
-
I guess we were after a bargain. That or Whiskey Joe fucked it up

How do you feel about pardew? Better the devil you know eh? And guti on the left wing? Better the devil you know!
-
I'm sure man city fans were saying that about their last owners too.
-
Its LBT isn't it? Or that kid in singapore leazes warned us about...
-
Strange how no-one was in for Obertan over the summer....

Exactly. Pardew has fuck all to do with transfers other than giving his opinion on what's needed for the team. It reminds me of that scene from Mike Bassett where when he needs something he writes it on a piece of paper and pushes it under the chairman's door.

fwiw I'm not bagging him for signing younger players instead of knackered old pros looking or a last pay day (aka Fat Sam's target market). It doesn't look so flash though when you don't sign the players you need. Bent was a pragmatic option if not a money maker
-
Apparently he hadn't heard of either player

Bugger all resale value at nearly 30. Doesn't fit Ashley's blueprint....
-
No, they're not bothered. JFK is more intelligent than the fans, remember...
-
It's terrifying anyone could employ Kinnear expecting him to do a serious job as DoF, operating in today's football world. I honestly think he swans about half pissed acting like Brick Top in Snatch, whilst people stifle laughs around him.....
-
Seems an elaborate way of doing things......why couldn't Ashley just say no? Kinnear bullshitting his way into a job he's incapable of doing fits the facts better.....considering Dennis Wise has pulled off that trick already....
-
If Kinnear was involved in any of the negotiations, it's plausible he made a complete and total arse of them.
