Look live here for 6 month and you tell me if you notice any differences. Till then pipe down. what would I do up there? Unless I sell my house I guess, could probably live like a kind on the equity. What would you do up here? Have a better standard of living and quality of life than you do down there for starters, living in a bigger home, paying less council tax. What can you do in Berkshire that you can't do here? Job, prospects, local amenities, hot and col running water, gas, electricity, coats...this list is, as they say, endless. Reading is basically a new town like Milton Keynes. Most of the good stuff was flattened in the War and the rest of it knocked down by ignorant town planners to build roundabouts and supermarkets. It has a terrible traffic system and is clogged with traffic at rush hour. its high street is dead. The main shopping centre The Oracle is blandness personified. There are lots of featureless business parks like Arlington (which is probably where Danny works) which all look the same. Most places up and down the M4 in that area like Slough and Bracknell are shit holes. There's actually a lot of crime in Reading too, ethnic tension and the rich live in little ghettos in Thames side villages. In my experience many of the people are mean, money obsessed, weasely characters. I can't think of a single thing to recommend it over Newcastle, a city rich in history, culture, character and people. FoD.

Good luck, we'll struggle on without you as best we can.....

As if Hughton has the power to block anything! Sounds more like the Mirror admitting they made it up in the first place iyam.
-
As much as that? I'm pleasantly surprised
-
It'd make more sense if it was Given moving to Celtic. Still, if we're spending money on new players it has to come from flogging a player or two so I can believe it. If Hughton comes and out and says he's heard nothing and no way is Harper leaving, it definitely means they've sold him.

3 years or so ago 3 Natwest bankers were deported to Texas in connection with the Enron trial. They were kept under house arrest for the best part of a year iirc awaiting trial, at their own expense, forbidden to work or travel and largely without their families. No crime had been committed against US citizens or US companies, and they had effectively squealed on themselves. In view of the costs and ridiculous jail terms if found guilty, they were forced to plea bargain and serve jail time in a Texan jail. Absolutely disgraceful. Even if they were grubby merchant bankers. No way would that happen to US citizens, I can't stand the way we bend over and take it form them tbh.

Is this fella actually any good? Doesn't sound like Everton were actually that arsed about him....

I expect inking the deal would be subject to a satisfactory medical, whoever he signs for. FWIW, these days there seems to be a much better rate of success with these sorts of ops, plus he's still young.
-
I'm not so sure, I expect he'd have been treated to 15 minutes of knock knock jokes, farting noises and a toy parrot swearing at random points. If he'd had any sense he would have shot Gazza and then himself.

Dunno whether it's true but I can believe it. Probably a Les Ferdinand type scenario if so - decent offer for older player, sold without approval of manager.

The early 80's were a bit tight but i'd hardly call it "Bread line". The latter half of the 80's I thought were quite affluent. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/spl/hi/busi...l/incomegap.stm

No, actually a lot of people didn't. Funnily enough it proved quite hard to go from coal mining to dealing securities in the City. iirc 'Bread line Britain' was a TV programme highlighting the general deprivation in the early 90's created by the Tories' policies.

Best case lower half of the table. 15th might not be a bad shout at this point. If the fat cunt doesn't put his hand in his pocket for a decent pacey striker and a midfielder who can pass, a season long relegation battle awaits imo.

It's been mint so far this year apparently. As a rule however the UK has too many grey/rainy days and Sydney is a sun blasted oven most of the year, perpetually in drought (when golf ball sized hail stones aren't wrecking your car). Mix the two together and you have perfection, aka New Zealand

I reckon they're getting a bum deal Well, if you're going to be anal about it... yeah, looking back, it's a bit of a cock up... Alright dave, stop ripping the arse of it... Snuck in through the back door .... No need to bend over backwards to keep this going.....

I'm surprised at this Stevie, I had you down as a straight bloke. Still, takes all sorts, eh?

Lawro will be in touch....

Oh dear, don't like that appraisal from FooW (cheers for taking the trouble by the way). Sounds a bit like a makeweight fished from the CCC bargain bucket. Hope he turns out better than he sounds.

Disgusting. We've got our own perfectly good gays, why do we need to import foreign gays to take their position? Surely there's enough gays to go round as it is? Shouldn't we be looking after our own gays instead of bringing in these foreign gays? And what's wrong with these gays anyway, why aren't they good enough for their own countries, are they defective?
