The Liverpool fella on The Athletic podcast was saying something about how the only serious investors he's heard spoken about are VC types from America and they want a 35% return on their investment. Which is just impossible at the prices they're being asked to pay.

I'm alright at maths, and that's sort of "the way my brain works", and I think it is massive for problem solving in the real world. But you've done all the essential stuff (and a decent amount of non-essential) by the time GCSEs are done. And if it wasn't your thing then, which it won't be for tens of thousands of kids, you don't need two extra years of it. Unless you have an aptitude and a real affinity for it, the stuff you learn beyond GCSE is borderline impossible and completely fucking worthless.

No interested parties for the sale so far. I imagine Man United will go before Liverpool do, although I gather there's very little interest there either. The prices they're asking are crazy. If you just want a PL presence, you can do that for a lot less money than Liverpool and Man United are asking - see Bournemouth. You get a project rather than a finished article, but what you also get is a fan base appreciative of progress rather than one demanding immediate trophies when there's only 4 to share around each season.

After the way Mccarthy has carried on the last few years, I suspect they don't want to either help or be seen as helping him. This is the bloke that tried to put Jim Jordan on the Jan 6 Committee.

Because they want guarantees on committee assignments for the fruitloop wing of the party (Gaetz, Boebert, etc). Mccarthy has so far refused to budge. He presumably has been told that if he provides guarantees for them, he'll lose votes from elsewhere, leaving him stuck short of the votes whatever happens.
