So what's it like to attend the Tyne-Wear derby?
donaldstott replied to dbsweeney's topic in Newcastle Forum
Jesus!!! the Fullwell end held 17 thousand people,do you seriously expect anyone to believe there wasalmost 6 thousand Mags in there!! get real I`ve heard of chinese whispers, but this is fucking stretching it!! 17,000, when exactly in 1930!!!! There were 28,098 people at Joker that day, are you honestly saying nearly two-thirds were in one stand (behind a goal). You can't critisise DK for exaggerating then blatently exaggerate yourself. -
The red card was for denying a goal scoring opportunity. It doesn't need to be reckless. Fantastic point... Given made a save - OH NO - denying a goal scoring opportunity - SEND HIM OFF! If you give a red card for a tackle for denying a goal scoring opportunity it has to be as a result of a careless or reckless tackle. The red card results from a more extreme iteration of what would normally be a foul - and for a tackle the laws of the game deem that to be a reckless or careless tackle. I'll say it again, that tackle was neither careless or reckless. Thereby there is no foul and it cannot be escalated to a red card, regardless of Beye's last man status. No.. If the referee deems it to be a foul (which clearly he did), then that foul very definitely denied a goal scoring opportunity, as Robinho was about to shoot. In law if a player makes a foul tackle that denies another player a goal scoring opportunity (the presumption being the player would very likely have scored) then he is punished with a red card. The tackle does not need to be reckless. I have been in a sililar situation where I have sent off a goalkeeper and awarded a penalty, and whilst I personally dont agree that punishing a team twice is fair, that is the law of the game. On a different point... A foul tackle deemed to be reckless is punishable by a red card. A foul tackle deemed to be careless is punishable by a yellow card.

I'm not saying it wasn't a good tackle, I'm merely pointing out that in law it doesn't have to be a reckless tackle to receive a red card. Yeah, I know what you mean...... but it does have to be a foul. The thing that really gets me about the decision is the lardy bugger clearly didn't get a good view at all, so all he must have seen is at worst a 50:50, that might or might not have been in the box (I know it doesn't really matter, but it should all weigh up in any decent refs mind - in fact it looks like the contact probably wasn't in the box from the replays) and that it is hardly into the game. From all that he makes basically the harshest decision possible on what he must realise are very iffy criteria. Don't get me wrong. I don't think it was a penalty.. I was correcting someone who said that a red card could only be issued if a tackle is reckless, which is nonesense. But a) Beye's momentum did take Robinho out. Styles was miles behind play and had a restricted view. c)it was the tiniest of touches. d)the lino didn't say 'no'. I'm just saying as someone who referees every week it's not as easy a decision as some would have you think.

Now that's bollocks. Yes he got the ball, but it was Beye's momentum that took Robinho out, not Robinho falling over Beye.

There is no way that it will get rescinded. It's too 'touch and go' and Styles won't want to lose face by suggesting he got it wrong and the FA will very likely back him. The comment about the assistant not being consulted is interesting. Styles can ask his linos to do whatever he likes, they gave very few foul decisions last night. Perhaps he's asked for offsides and out of play only.

They shouldve been here last week. Have you tried cleaning them up? I've had the same pair of disposables for going on two years now. I have to take them out for a few hours every three days or so and give them a good cleaning, but that usually does the trick. Fuck me man, buy some new lenses before your eyes fall out!!! Oh and Stevie, should have gone to Specsavers!

Burn after Reading - I really enjoyed it.. I didn't think it was possible (if you have a penis) but I really like George Clooney and Brad Pitt, they are both becoming very good comedy actors. Eastern Promises - Not quite as hideous as a History of Violence but nevertheless enough for me to make a promise never to see another David Cronenburg movie again. -
What else do they make at the 'big pickle factory'? Pickled beetroot for a kick-off They do more than pickling... http://shop.englishprovender.com/

Could the Beeb possibly have found a more demonic picture of Barry George, or a more vulnerable picture of Kay Burley. And did they have to arrange them so that it looks like he's blatently perving on her...

I work on the same business park as a big pickle factory... When they make the pickled onions it stinks for 2 miles in every direction.. Enough to make you vom.!!

Is that the island with the turtle sanctory and Dolphin park? Can't remember which island it was with those on, but that was a fun day - bloody hot on the old bikes but great fun (and I got to swim with Bull sharks) That's the one.. Most people go there for a day trip from Cancun, but me and the missus skipped Cancun and stayed on the island for a week. You can hire golf carts and tour the island.. You're right about the weather, it was amazing whilst we were there.

Playing truth or dare with amongst others Steve Howey and 'Disco' Des Hamilton. Watching Tino have a fight in the middle of a crowded restaurant after he'd pinched some lasses arse who was sitting at a table for two with her boyfriend.

Ran the gaunlet through Sunderland from the little station to the SOS, that was fun. Bottles and bricks aplenty. Pieces of rock were flying past our heads in the Stadio Delli Alpi. Survived the "Battle of Breda", largely due to the fact I was in a bar watching through the window!! Too young for good old fashioned hooliganism!! -

Whilst I remain flabbergasted, it was clear that Hughton wasn't doing well. The list of people willing to come to take over for a month or so would be minute!!! Better to have someone with experience in than leave Hughton in charge!
