  1. That's not the angle I was going for, though, and the inclusion of Given's name indicated that. Unless you were going to make the joke and held back because it was too obvious. But that hasn't really worked.
  2. When I was talking to someone about Lorraine they recommended I listen to Mew. How similar are they?
  3. I read somewhere that Shola and Given had amazing handicaps, very low single figures. Too obvious. ?
  4. On first listen, Albert Hammond Jr's Yours To Keep is a cracking album. And it sounds nothing like The Strokes. \o/

    Sickies

I don't have a real job but even when I have manflu I go in. Working with food, this probably isn't a good idea but as a student having a bit of money is more important than silly customers being okay. During the whole of high school I think I had about a week off and most of those days were because I was on holiday with my family. I regularly take days off uni, though, mainly because I'm tired or hungover.

  7. Elgin lost their first ten games of the season - a new record for them, for the Scottish league and quite close to breaking Man United's record of having the worst ever start to a season by any British side (I think in the 1930/31 season) - before they won at the weekend. 5-0.
  8. Someone at my work was cleaning one of the screens and found a pink handbag. He went to the box office to give to someone to put in the lost property but because he was serving someone at the time he just put it next to him. The customer said something along the lines of "You're very brave leaving that bag there in this day and age." They had a short conversation about how he thought he should just live his life normally and not be scared of every bag (especially a pink handbag) he comes across otherwise the terrorists would have won. She got angry and left with the comment "You're a fucking idiot" which took him back a bit. The second next customer asked if anyone had found her pink handbag.
  9. I was going to see Babyshambles when they were new (based on Pete/the Libertines, I'm not cool enough to know of obscure bands). They cancelled because he was rubbish/on drugs. They rearranged to play at another location in the city and I didn't both going along but he had the decency to go round the back of the venue at the end of the gig and do a little acoustic set for his fans. Which was quite nice.
  10. I know! What was that all about?
  11. Exactly what I was thinking! I got told this as a true story, although I'd be more inclined to believe it's an urban legend, really. I'd love to think it happened though. Bono is at a U2 concert in Glasgow when he asks the audience for some quiet. Then in the silence, he starts to slowly clap his hands.Holding the audience in total silence, he says into the microphone... "Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies." A voice from near the front pierces the silence... "Well, stop bloody clapping then!" Are you sure you/they didn't just read the joke at the end of this week's Popbitch?
  12. Does anyone know a decent site to get the blue away kit from last season? .com and .co.uk don't have it, SubsideSports.com doesn't have it and UKSoccershop.com is still charging quite a lot for it. I'd quite like it new so I can get a name on the back, where's the best place to go?
  13. I've never seen that before. The Shearer celebration made me laugh. (Or it made me LOL, if you will.)
  14. Boumsong did a good job at Rangers. This is a fun game.
