Who's name does Ashley have on the back of his shirt again?
-
You know what... this Blackburn fan might have a point - they beat us on the number of relegations too. And what's more, they've got a Premiership relegation to boast about. Shit lads, we don't stand a chance

ffs! Reality check time. * First Division and Premier League[39] titles: 4 o Champions: 1904-05, 1906-07, 1908-09, 1926-27 o Runners-up: 1995–96, 1996–97 * Old Second Division: 2 o Champions: 1964-65, 1992-93 o Runners-up: 1897-98, 1947-48 * FA Cups: 6 o 1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, 1955 * Charity Shields and Community Shields[40]: 1 o 1909 * Inter-Cities Fairs Cup: 1 o 1969 * Texaco Cups: 2 o 1974, 1975 * Anglo-Italian Cup: 1 o 1973 * Kirin Cup: 1 o 1983 * Milk Cup: 2 o 1985 (Premier), 1989 (Premier) * Intertoto Cup: 1 o 2006 .. :D I love the way you're laughing when you've completely destroyed your own argument. We've been champions of this country more than you have it seems. We also appear to have been the runners more than you too. Still, that Lancashire Cup makes all the difference!

I totally agree. I know certain members on here will think I am biased on the whole situation because Jo is a scouser. My views on the Sun and their coverage of Hillsborough were founded well before I met Jo however. I still shudder at the fact that she should have been there - right in the middle of it. Her Dad and her had tickets for the match, in the Leppings Lane paddocks but her Dad couldn't get the time off work and she had to sell the tickets to a couple of friends. They went and were crushed but suffered no injuries as they weren't as far down as those seriously injured. Sadly one of her mates out of the group of them who regularly went to the match was down at the front at Hillsborough and didn't stand a chance

TBF the reason they won't read the Sun has got nothing to do with Murdoch. The only one it has anything to do with is Kelvin Mckenzie, who left the Sun years ago though. No-one at The Sun now was anything to do with their Hillsbrough coverage at the time. Mckenzie made the decision to go with the "The Truth" headline and story, and the only person above him is Murdoch (who's said that Mckenzie is his favourite editor that ever held the reigns at the sun). Who are they punishing by not reading the Sun? Oh I agree it was all McKenzie and he has nothing left to do with the Sun any more. Mud sticks though I guess and it is that reason (and nothing to do with Murdoch) why the won't read the paper. As for Gerrard serialising his book in the NOTW, I think that's a disgrace tbh. Not least because the youngest victim of the Hillsborough disaster was his own cousin. You should have heard this Scouser I know trying to justify it "It's not the same paper". No shit? It's the sister paper of The Sun though. I don't think it's that bad (Gerrard), it's just makes a mockery of the boycotting of The Sun imo. As does watching Sky or reading the Times if you ask me. All the same company that stood by the editor. You see, I agree with Alex that The Sun and NOTW are the same. The NOTW is effectively The Sun's Sunday edition. All Sky & The Times have in common with The Sun is the same media mogul owns them. That's as bad as the Mackems refusing to buy their own shirts because they're made by Umbro of whom Mike Ashley had a controlling interest.

It's on Setanta over here... As for the thread - well i don't know about the rest of you, but I can see one

Shearer with an experienced coach to work with him is our best realistic option IMO.

He was 'sacked' because he was getting pissed off with those above him getting their fingers in the footballing side of things and he had no qualms in telling them so. Agreed though, if we haven't attempted to contact him, then something is wrong. Failure to do so is resignation from those in charge that we're not good enough - a very worrying thought!
-
Sorry but you are wrong crimson. He's not actually - he IS a good manager and has done well in turning Everton around. However he's not the right man for us and appointing him would not be the right thing to do in my opinion. Simply another Allardyce, Souness, Hughes, etc...
-
Exactly. Reputation solely built on beating an unconvincing England side, managed by a numpty totally out of his depth. Yea, SFA to do with finishing top of the group or nowt. Scottish Football Association?
-
Joking aside, after the recent tragedy at Motherwell he won't be going anywhere in the near future IMO. I think he was favourite to get the Scotland job but he won't walk out on Motherwell now. I agree... I was actually half serious. The bloke is doing a good job with Motherwell and has 'history' with NUFC on two seperate occassions. I'd warm to him a damned sight more than I would Hughes or McLaren. I still have that suspicion that it will be Shearer with an experienced old hand to help him out. Following on from what you were saying Ritchie, the managers we've been able to prise away from other clubs over the last 30 years are: Arthur Cox (Chesterfield) Jim Smith (QPR) Ossie Ardiles (Swindon) Graeme Souness (Blackburn) The rest were either internal appointments or men who were out of work at the time.
-
Lets get Mark McGhee!
-
Not a bad statement for effectively saying that the man who chose doesn't want to know....

Ruled himself out already hasn't he? Poor management. Should have kept his fans and players on tenderhooks. watch him backtrack though...he'd come here like a shot. Didn't really rule himself out did he? Said he or his chairman hadn't been approached and didn't expect to be (probably because he knew we were persuing Redknapp and expected him to take the job). I fully expect it to be Hughes now and if not him, it'll be Shearer. I don't think we're stupid enough to lower ourself to Steve McLaren and didn't Ashley say he thought of him in the same vein as his ex-wife? As for Van Gaal, Mourinho, Houillier, etc.. I think we can forget that line of enquiry. What Shearergol said is spot on - i doubt they'd take kindly to being 'second choice' which we all now know they would be.
-
I want Mourinho but don't think we'll get him. Don't particularly want Shearer but I definitely do not want Redknapp...
-
You lot are still crap apparently
-
Agree totally with this. Having Shearer as manager seems totally irrational and under normal circumstances I'd be against it... But opposed to Redknapp I'd definitely have him in the gig. As SLP says, it would give us the lift we need. When was the last time we appointed a manager and had such a positive atmosphere about it? Robson, surely?

I've been down south all day....... honest!
-
I wouldn't know, I'm too busy shacked up with a scouse girl... Reckons Newcastle fans 'do it better'!
-
He's reached new levels of pleb-ness....

More likely to be a fridge with plastic magnetic letters tbh

Fuck me, it'd be like taking candy from a baby....
