Primary reason for working has to be to provide yourself with money to live off. After that its to relieve boredom and that generally goes hand in hand with job satisfaction. Everyone's different but there's no way I could be in a job where i'm earning a mint yet i absolutely fucking hate it. You only get one life and what's all that money gonna do for you if you're miserable?

penalty redemption fees usually only apply if you have a fixed-rate mortgage and you want to redeem it within the fixed-rate period (and even then its generally only if you want to change lenders - starting a new mortgage for another property with the same lender seems to be ok). Does depend on who you're borrowing from though. I had a redemption penalty of 6 months interest during the fixed-rate period on mine.

Arghhhh! I was watching a tv clip yesterday of that cunt scoring for Wist 'Am, and felt like throwing something at the telly. I've still never forgiven him for that hat-trick he scored for Blackburn against us in KK's second game in charge. The way he was enciting the crowd was fucking ridiculous!!

Should be able to 'over-pay' on most loans, but it won't mean the timeframe would decrease per se. What they tend to do is re-finance the loan over the existing period and could be something you could end up being charged a fee for. What I'd do is if you do have any extra capital in a particular month, lob it in a high interest account so it makes money for you and then when the amount in the there is equal to or greater than your settlement figure(*) pay the remainder of the loan off... (*) remember that your settlement figure will be less than the outstanding amount as the outstanding amount will have been calculated with interest for the remainder of the loan agreement. Also you will have to request a settlement amount.

I'd rather shove cocktail sticks into my eyeballs tbh

killer punch was it?

Fuck's sake it's like the 'Shearer for Newcastle boss' carry on... Until it happens, the press aren't going to shut up about it!!! Give him the cap - preferrably in some meaningless friendly, and then we can get on with it.

I tend to only take the lift if I have to move a trolley-load of equipment between floors... That said, I've lost count of the amount of times H&S have given me a mouthfull for carrying drinks on the stairs - can't win in this day and age

Didn't we sign Beardsley at a similar point in his career and pay him a handsome wage? Pedro was on £500k pw. With Beckham having been away from the PL for so long and having never been blessed with much pace or dribbling skills to start off with I'd see this as a very big risk at this stage of his career for the outlay we'd have to provide. As others have said, I don't think for one minute this will happen. The press are seeing us with KK as manager suddenly as attractive to big name players and that we've got a £2bn cash-cow who'll fund whatever deal he wants. Any story they come up has plausability however unrealistic it may be. Are you sure about Pedro's wages? I'd heard that one of the reasons SJH wasn't too keen early on was the amount KK wanted to pay a man who was in his 30s (wages, not transfer). You got a source?

Wasn't the press link Berbatov or Carrick (if we stood aside and let Berbatov go to Man Utd) rather than both of them? Either way it's dreamland...

cant see why we shouldnt win the double tbh I know both these comments are made with tongue firmly in cheek but I know damned well that if the press read this thread, they'd look past every other comment on focus in on these...

Amazing isn't it? The media reckon we're all being unrealistic and reckon that we'll suddenly be elevated to where we were 11/12 years ago yet the consensus of the fans think we'll finish no higher than mid-table. Parky, which of the two sides I mentioned do you think we'll finish above?

So we've got Keegan in and the gutter press are all reporting that our expectations are sky high and we collectively feel we're going to qualify for the Champions League this season.... Shows to me exactly how out of touch they really are - so what are everyone's realistic predictions for where we'll finish the season? Me, I think you can straight away discount the top 4 - they're away in the distance and what's more, probably will be next season too. Aside from that, I think Man City, Portsmouth, Everton and Villa are out of our reach too for the remainder of this season. Just can't see those 4 dropping 10 points more than us with what's left. Next on the list are Blackburn, West Ham & Spurs. I think each of those is catchable and that should be our realistic target. With that in mind I feel the best that we can hope to achieve is 9th. Anything higher than that of course would be welcomed and should be looked at as a bonus... Where do you think we'll finish?

So did MattM4 but I can't see him turning out for us anytime soon

Under Shepherd's regime, Shearer was effectively 'god' and could do no wrong. That was evident pretty much from the point the board backed him over Gullit. I think perhaps he's having difficulty coming to terms with the fact that since the buyout, he is viewed quite simply as another ex-player who just happens to have scored more goals for us than anyone else. In my mind its more Shepherd's fault than Shearer's for elevating him to a position he never should have done. Stepping back I think he would be a great asset to the club but he needs to accept that he will be working for Keegan, not with him. One good thing I think Ashley & Mort have very quietly achieved is to dispell this 'geordie nation' and 'superstar status' bullshit which was running through the club. If we are ever going to progress, that HAD to go.

The Keegan Era: Will we ever see it's like again?

Never had you down as a bit of a Nostradamus Dan.... As for the question in the title... Maybe we just might -
As good as said he wants the no.2 job as well IMO.

Home game against Leicester? The only home games we had against Leicester were the 7-1 when we were 6-0 up at half time, a 3-1 home win when we were class and Albert scored a belta, and that amazing 4-3 when Shearer got a hattrick. I think you're on about Ipswich, one of the worst games I've ever seen, Ipswich were as bad as I've ever seen a Premiership team, their tactic was 10-0-0, 0-0 fuck all happened then Cole scored his last goal for the toon, then they decided to attack in the last minute and with their only shot fucking scored, what a shit game that was, you couldn't have been on about Leicester though. It's a decent post this though, and I agree with what you say, but it won't stop me losing all sense of reality tomorrow getting mortal before the game and singing my heart out for the lads. Fantasy is better than reality, and if and when reality bites, I'll stop dreaming. I'm willing to bet he's talking about the home game with Birmingham in the promotion season when we were being seriously fucked over and rescued a point late on thanks to Andy Cole. -
He was bought either on the same day, or the day before Andrew Alexander Cole iirc, so his introduction was somewhat overshadowed. Never really established himself. Unveiled the same day as Scott Sellars IIRC. Think you're right and it was the day before Cole who came on transfer deadline day. The horrific career-threatning injury he suffered in the summer of 1993 didn't really help like. I don't know what the actual injury was, but by all accounts it was bad.

Kind of person we need as skipper to be honest. Kilcline was more of a club captain than team captain under KK. Yes he played regularly in the latter stages of the 1991-92 season but in the promotion push we mainly had Howey & Scott in the centre

South-East corner? Atmosphere always seems good there like if that's where you're on about. The ghost of the Gallowgate corner lives on... Was always the best for atmosphere in the standing days - depsite what those in the scoreboard or the centre west used to think. Brings back memories of how each paddock used to get the others to open their mouths: "Sing in the corner!" "Sing in the milburn!" "Sing in the scoreboard" "Sing in the leazes!" etc.... good times!
