Martins just keeps improving every game. He's showing he can score goals and goals of every kind as well. And he is more than matching the physical contest of the premiership which was something everyone was wondering about with him. Also he has played this season (his first in the prem as a young lad) in a team not playing well and often not playing to his strengths. So he deserves alot of credit and should be absolutely flying nexts eason. Plus i think he and Owen will be able to play alongside each other with no problem.

And i didn't even have to own up as strangely not one single person was around as i slipped, went flying landed, got up very gingerley unable to breathe and then swore at my thumb absolutely knacking! It really just needed Harry Hill commentating on it and a cheque for £250 being sent to my house! -

Had a good night, nice to see everybody who was there! Thought i'd broken my thumb last night in the Trent, its bloody painfull today but seems not to be broken. I was coming down the stairs from the toilet and slipped, went completely arse over tit, whacked my back off the edge of the stairs and knacked my thumbs, as well as getting a lovely graze/burn on my arm! I can't even blame the drink for it as it happened after about 1 drink! -
It would like. Our one day team has been shite even when the test team was flying, so if we managed to snatch this from the aussies, they'd be gutted...no matter how much they'd deny it! We all know the ashest tests are what counts and what we all want to win, but their players and fans hate losing to us at anything with a passion and so they'd be completely pissed off. That said we could easilly get completely arse raped in the next two one dayers and lose it all!

PC gone mad! What? Choosing to not swear on something you have no belief in?? Heaven forbid! Id take the bible myself, then i could happilly lie like a bastard on it throughout!

I'll pop in before hand at some point, and after if people are going to be stopping out for a good while! -
Depends really, i and quite a few others never thought he looked shit at all. Pre season he's loked really good and obviously had the talent. He was young, lackign a bit physically and made to play with a big striker or even behind two strikers. Then for various reasons he ended up playign on his own, with his back to goal up against big physical centrehalves in a team not playing to his strengths. He lost all confidence and never worked out for him here. But i was never surprised he went on to do well and would have kept him here at the time when we did sell him to be honest.

French dad, Polish mam. That's so lame I half hope no one gets it. "French Polishers? It's just possible you could save my life tbh." They don't make adverts like that anymore! I wonder how much of that lad's life was spent with people shouting "Hello, French polishers!" at him in the street...i'd like to think quite a lot!

Swindonmag would have enjoyed that!

You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full time job. I think i'd take Michael Cane now, never mind then, over Carr at RB!

Finally NUFC have some luck on the injury front! Like Jimbo i'm not one for ever wishing injuries on toon players, but i'm afraid with this one we needed it taken out of Roeder's hands and we should now see Nobby resume his place in the team. As for the article, i don't think Roeder is wrong to say what he did at all (other than being sad at Carr being injured!), its a complete joke the way clubs pay for players, pay their wages, their bonuses, their insurance and everything else, then internationals take them at will, injure them and the club (and its fans) suffer the consequences. The example with Ashton was a very good one, if he hadn't got injured with England for a meaningless game West Ham would very likely not be in the trouble they are now having lost one of their best/most important players...and we know all about that sort of thing ourselves.

You haven't seen Alexander the Great then. Oim emperor of the world to be sure. Agreed, Alexander was terrible. It was incredibly dull and the decision to make the Macedonians speak with Irish accents (i'm guessing on the basis that Farrell couldn't do anything else) was ludicrous! -
dropping nobby and the young lads in defence
Papa Lazaru replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
There is no possible defence for Roeder over not playing Nobby and he can come up with any nonsense he likes but he will still remain utterly wrong in that decision. Like Wacky i think Edgar has looked allrightwhen he's played, and i don't remember him being especially short so Roeder could have played him at LB if he was so bothered about height. But Nobby has been the best player at RB (and arguably in the whole defence), he helps the 3 at the back with him and he uses his brain and ability to start some passing moves from the back. -
I'm amazed we were 7th for away games, thought we'd be much further down with out away record being poor usually, even when we're going well!

Bit of a problem now. It doesn't matter whether James is in top form or not, he will drop a bollock and at international level has never been good enough despite all his natural talent. Unfortunately Robinson is looking like a bit of a nightmare at the moment, leaving England with nobody who is quite good enough at this point in time!

You often get an element of that, something is big and popular so some people will hate it on principle that its the most popular. Though others may have genuine reasons for disliking it? I've had mine for a few years now and yet to have any major problem/breakdown. All i've had is for soem reason it has duplicated a few artists, so their albums appear twice on the ipod and occasionally it will skip to the song after the one i have selected, which can be sorted pretty quickly by pressing a button!

Blatent panic buy if you ask me. He'd been looking at some Dutch curtains for a long time, but in the end decided he'd always wanted the ones he's got now. -
Would have to agree, his own performances alone would pretty much earn him that title, but his affect on the 3 defenders alongside him guarantees it. Before he signed for us you would read about him and hear rom Leeds fans about just how good he was, and you could tell from their reaction to him leaving being massive compared to Ferdinand leaving. But when you see him play you understand how good he is. But his injuries have stopped him ever being able to go on and be recognised as one of the best in the world unfortunately.

If you can find anyone who's said its been "awesome" at any point this season, i'll be impressed, but since they haven't its not knee jerk at all. And i would be astounded at any NUFC fan who doesn't question and get annoyed at the manager for leaving Nobby on the bench, picking Bramble (who returned from injury miles away from where he needs to be) and Carr (who has been shite all season and unfit) and on top of that playing Carr at LB. Again this isn't knee jerk as people have been unhappy with those two players all season, whilst all have recognised that Nobby has been better than anyone else at RB and has improved the others around him at the back when he's played. Its also been pointed out by many that Roeder has been forced through injuries to pick certain players and whenever he's had the chpice, he's made some strange choices, he did it again against Fulham, so its not knee jerk at all. -
I'm sure he won't be anything like Johnny on his return, but then i doubt many players of any sport would be able to come back and match Wilkinson's first performance, the guy is a one off! I reckon Owen will be a decent bet to score on his return to be honest, providing he's on the pitch for a decent length of time.

Sad but true. As soon as Roeder had the choice of defenders to pick, he compeltely and utterly fucked it up, which is extremely worrying. I wouldn't play Carr at RB in the championship, the idea of pickign him at LB is a work of insanity! I wouldn't play Carr in the toontastic 5 a side team. It appears that, like managers before him, Roeder has his favourites who will always get a game. Our best results have come when he has been forced to make decisions he otherwise wouldn't have done. He might get on the bench for the TT team! Its something i've never understood with football managers and favourites. When everybody (and i mean everybody!) can see one player (or maybe several) are better than the one they keep pickng, you can only be left with 1 of 2 options. Either, they also know the player they're picking is worse and yet do it deliberately, or they can't see the player is worse, in which case they must be blind! I mean its their job on the line, so you have to believe they are genuinely doing what they think is best to get the results, but you end up thinking, how the hell can they think thats whats best! -

Ends the game, man of the match, a full house of try, conversion, penalty kick and drop goal and just outstanding throughout, and all having not played internatioal rugby for over 2 years and only having 40 mins for Newcastle before this match, the guy is unbelievable!

So simple and yet beyond our manager frighteningly. Bramble returned against Villa and looked miles off, Carr isn't fit to lace Nobby's boots and Solano calms and improves the rest of the back 4 who were poor in our last game. Its a no brainer and utterly moronic.
