The Football Association have been assured Fabio Capello's taxes are in order after reports he is being investigated in Italy. Capello's advisors were contacted by The FA after it was reported their new head coach was being investigated for tax fraud. According to a legal source in Italy the 61-year-old is to come under the microscope by prosecutors in the northern city of Turin. However, it appears the FA have known about the matter for some time and are confident nothing substantive will emerge. "It is our understanding that the Italian tax authorities are currently following a procedure of looking into the finances of a number of high-profile individuals," said an FA spokesman. "We have spoken to Fabio and his advisors about today's newspaper reports in Italy and they have explained the facts. "They have also given us their assurances that Fabio Capello's tax payments are in order. "The FA have no further comment to make on this subject." The experienced Italian tactician has only recently been appointed England boss following Steve McClaren's sacking last year. Capello was at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday to cast his eye over Reading's FA Cup replay with Spurs ahead of next month's friendly with Switzerland

If we don't get Deschamps, Shearer and Keegan is next for me. Anyone else think this is a pile of shit: Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer both want the Newcastle job, but won't work together. (The Mirror) The wont work together part. -

The Newcastle United job is going to a Geordie boy according to sacked manager Sam Allardyce - Wigan boss Steve Bruce. Allardyce partied until the early hours yesterday - and openly backed Bruce to take over his old job. Allardyce, 53, joined Bruce and Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson in Manchester following his former team's miserable 6-0 drubbing at Old Trafford. The trio downed bottles of champagne and lager at the city's Ampersand club with their wives. The managers chatted until the early hours of the morning and openly discussed Bruce taking over the job at St James' Park. Advertisement One clubber, who was close to Allardyce, said: "You have to say he did not look too sad about losing the job. "Big Sam was certainly enjoying a few drinks and did not seem too upset about Newcastle United's performance. "I think he was starting to spend some of his pay-off! "At one stage, the three managers were all stood at the bar talking as if Bruce was a real candidate for the job. "Allardyce seemed to think there was a fair chance he would be offered it, and they all spoke about him being unveiled at his hometown club. "Bruce was just smiling sheepishly about it. "Obviously this was after the news that Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp had turned it down. "Bruce has only just arrived at Wigan, so you would think he would be a long shot, but they were not talking that way." Geordie-born Bruce was widely tipped to take over in 2004 after Sir Bobby Robson was sacked, but he turned down the job. His wife and family are from Tyneside, and he watched the team as a schoolboy, but has only just started to inspire a revival of relegation-threatened Wigan Bollocks to that aswell.

Former Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan is not ruling himself 'in or out' of a return to the club he 'loves'. Keegan has emerged as a popular choice to replace Sam Allardyce at St James' Park after Harry Redknapp's decision to stay at Portsmouth. Reports have claimed that Keegan could form a managerial 'dream team' with Magpies legend Alan Shearer. When asked about any interest in a second stint as Newcastle boss by Sky Sports News, Keegan admitted he had not had time to think about the subject. However, he acknowledged his affection for the club and did not dismiss the possibility of another stab at the job. "I'm not ruling myself in or out, or anything," Keegan told Sky Sports News. "It's a club I love and that's all I'm prepared to say. Everybody knows that. It's a club I've managed before." Keegan's first spell as Newcastle manager started in February 1992 as he kept the team in the old Division Two before winning the title the following year. He led the club to third spot in their first campaign in the Premier League and blew a 12-point lead at the top in the 1995/96 season. After leaving the club in January 1997, Keegan had spells in charge of Fulham, England and Manchester City, which was his last managerial position almost three years ago.
