The Rafa Benitez point is a f*cking brilliant one too.
-
"Whitley's not there I'm afraid. It's actually spelt Whiteley."
-
I suppose he's one of the "housewives' favourites", which is about 90% of the Countdown audience, so he's probably as good a choice as any.
-
Not really. van Nistelrooy could have walked into an onside position. He didn't. He continued to run towards the goal giving him a scoring opportunity.
-
The Scottish lad bottled it in the final. Seriously though, he's now up to 68th in the latest World Rankings.
-
But one of the bylaws is "If he's gaining an unfair advantage by being in an offside position, it's offside". If being 2 yards infront of Goma isn't an unfair advantage, then I don't know what is!
-
On MOTD 2, the presenter said that because van Nistelrooy didn't get the ball originally, it didn't count as offside. Last season when Kluivert scored an almost identical goal at Anfield there was uproar. Typical example of favouritism.

Claire's Accessories tbh.

Des Lynam. Think he could pull it off?

I was sacked in September by Newcastle during my 4th season (sound familiar!). Got offered the Everton job, and they £40m to spend in the transfer window which went on Murphy (£2.6m), Marchena (£10m), Lagerblom (£1.2m), and raided Newcastle for N'Zogbia (£4m), Boumsong (£3.8m), Viana (£1.4m) & Luque (£17m). Won the League Cup, currently 12th in the league.

Me being the complete prat I am, went up to the ground before thinking the actual match was today because the advert through the week said "The Match - October 2nd"
-
He then wasted his first £10m (Cort & Bassedas).

Anelka to Newcastle either in January or next summer is probably one of the certainties to come off.

Well the season just before Souness took over we had no Woodgate, Dyer, Jenas or Bellamy for important UEFA Cup Semi-Finals & Premiership games for Champions League qualification, so it's not as if injury plagues are a new thing under the new "regime".
-
We had no Bramble, Dyer, Luque, Emre, Solano or Owen, then lost Babayaro to injury and got a 0-0 away. Take Toure, Ljungberg, Pires, Gilberto, Hleb & Henry, and then Cole away from Arsenal and they'd have struggled. Take Heinze, Ronaldo, Rooney, Keane, Scholes & van Nistelrooy, and then O'Shea and they'd have struggled. (well they lost 2-1 at home to Blackburn last week without a few of them). Take King, Davids, Carrick, Jenas, Lennon & Defoe, and then Stalteri from Spurs and they'd have struggled. Take Hyypia, Garcia, Gerrard, Alonso, Hamann & Cisse, and then Riise from Liverpool and they'd have struggled. It's all very well people saying we should have the squad to compete, but our injury situation is beyond a joke, and any club barring Chelsea with the equivalent injuries would have been lucky to get a point today.
-
224th overall for October! Picked up 53 points today (clean-sheets for Boumsong, Given & O'Brien & 2 goals for captain van Nistelrooy the main point scorers).

The complete contrast of Shepherd who seems a bit of an arse, but does actually know what he's doing.

A narrow Newcastle win.

Join your local tennis club man. Cheaper through the autumn and winter months. Sure, it's fecking freezing and you have to pray for no rain or snow, but when it gets to the spring & summer months, you'll be ready.
-
Jesus, that's pathetic. I'm sure it was our very own Sir Bobby who said he'd want to go out doing a "Jock Stein".

The Mike Bassett manager programme showed promise last night. I loved the press conference. J= "You were sacked after a poor European Championship qualifying campaign". MB = "Yes, but like I've always said, there's no easy game in international football these days.....Liechtenstein are no exceptions". J - "But then you took Newcastle down in two successive seasons". MB = "Yes, but I left them in a much better position than when I joined them, for a start, I cut the wage bill by 50%" J = "Yes, but that's because all the best players left".

BBC Ceefax says last night's win has put him in the top 80.
