I saw a twitter thread this morning which I now can't find but it persuaded me that Starmer is handling this well. In response to why haven't the police been more aggressive or why aren't the army on the streets its because that would escalate the situation and only have the effect of making martyrs/heroes out of the rioters. Whereas arresting them and handing out severe sentences across the board will prove a bigger deterrent. Hope it's right and these idiots start to think twice when they see the repercussions they will face

I know where you are coming from but not making the argument for Europe and immigration has lead us to the place we are now in. We have basically surrendered the policy position to the rabid right wing and the hate mob. I may be cynical but I still believe the vast majority of people in this country are repulsed by the current behaviour, and rejoin is miles ahead in the polls, even with nobody putting forward its merits. I do believe Starmer is a decent bloke, and is an efficient technocrat, but I agree he probably doesn't have the oratory skills to win the argument. Just wish he would try, he's basically untouchable for 5 years and the press will hammer him no matter what

I agree with every single word of this, and I really hate to be that guy again, but I wish Starmer would put this argument. We all know it's true, and his chances of being successful without making it shrink horribly

If you get a decent round it's not a bad job, but it's pretty unforgiving and can be brutal I was involved in the sameday side rather than the multidrop route aspect though so different strokes really I will say though that it does suit a lot of drivers, hard work though

Yea shifts are a bit daunting but I'm on 4on 4 off with a 6 day break once a month, which is quite civilised Pretty sure I'd think differently about the whole thing if I wasn't just doing it to fill in time til I properly retire in a couple of years
