I would rank Maximo Park alongside the others that you mention but playing the same instruments is the only connection I can make between Art Brut and the rest of them. Try plaing Bang Bang Rock n Roll to a Franz Ferdinand fan (more particularly the fans that come with chart success) and I think you would find they thought very differently of the two. The lack of what most radio 1 listeners would class as singing is I think the easiest divider between them. Both canny bands like and I agree Art Brut are a better listen.

Agatetis Byrjun is their best album but I would say Takk is the easiest to begin with. They either get lumped along with post rock such as Godspeed You Black Emporer, Mogwai and Slint or more ambient stuff like Boards Of Canada or Aphex Twin but I would say they are completely unlike anything else I've ever heard and liking those other bands would be no guarantee of liking them or vise versa. Incidentally my baby daugther gets very chilled out by them.

I would rather we went for fullbacks to be honest. Bramble has looked pretty solid for the last season and a half, Taylor is an excellent prospect, Moore has supassed any expectations we had for him, Rammage is certainly good enough for cover and Elliott or Boumsong can play there at a push. But Baba looks disinterested half the time on the left and Elliotts pace catches him out too often there. And unfortunately Carr doesn't look like rediscovering the form he showed at Spurs before his injury so I would say fullbacks are almost as much of a priority as strikers!

To be fair to Souness (urgh I feel sick just saying that) he did do well with Blackburn in the championship. It's just when you want something more from him that he struggles.

I have to feel sorry for him as the only times he's played has been when we are have had half a team and then he's expected to come in and perform. It might have been very different for him if he's come in alongside Owen or Shearer and had Parker, Emre and Bowyer in midfield. Unfortunately more of than not he's been paired with a not fully fit Shola and in front of Clark and Faye. You can't expect him to play to his full potential in those circumstances. That said I still don't think he's a top class player.

Pretty much sums up how I feel. I don't think he will be a terrible manager (and of course I hope he turn out to be superb) but I just think we are continuing with the same provincial thinking that has got us no where for years. I think we will be pretty stable in the top half of the league and will challenge for wafa cup places but I really don't see us doing any better. Perhaps I am hoping for too much but I don't see what's wrong with aiming for the top. His comments about not getting our transfers done before the season starts are worrying mind.
