  1. I see Wood was saying the other day that he doesn't know whether his body can stand up to test cricket. It'd be a shame if he can't manage it because he really does give us something different. Curran was excellent yesterday btw.
  2. I only saw the last couple of our wickets. Apparently there was some good balls in there but you still have to think they should have played the situation better. I can't help but think this mindset, while great for the shorter forms, is harming us in test matches. I don't think it ultimately made that much difference in the ashes because they just had a team better suited to playing over there. But I do think there are other matches that we are losing that we could have won had we been able to change the way we play to suit the situation.
  3. 8/5 shows how with the way we play now, when it goes wrong for us it can go very wrong. Our batsmen seem to lack the match understanding to know when they need to drop anchor. Fair play to Woakes though.
  4. The Post. Unsurprisingly good considering it's directed by Speilberg and stars Hanks and Streep. Although more than anything it just made me want to re watch the superior All The Presidents Men.
  5. Aye my sisters bloke is from Burnley and he doesn't think Wood is anything particularly good either.
  6. Anyone looking for someone who scores a load of spectacular goals is kidding themselves. This kid looks like he scores plenty of the goals you want a striker to score so in that sense he'd be a signing I'd be more than happy with. Of course the caveat is the number of players in general (Kezman, Alves, Jansen etc) and for us in particular (De Jongs, Tomasson, Rob McDonald) that have done well in Holland but wank over here. But if we're behind Rafa we're going to have to trust his judgement. And it's no good saying it might be a player who's way down Rafa's list, because Rafa can't have players on his list that are much more expensive than this as he must know he's got no chance of getting the money for them from the fat cunt. And those other teams like Bournemouth, Brighton, Huddersfield etc that have broken their transfer records aren't buying players for a load more. Of course this is if this actually comes off and there's certainly no guarantee of that.
  7. The latest Thor. Probably wouldn’t have bothered with it had it not been directed by the guy who directed What We Do In The Shadows. Glad I did though, it’s certainly the best Thor film and one of the best comic book films in ages. It seems they generally work better when played for laughs.
  8. I think the Bristol incident (as well as his decision not to go to Bangladesh) might have fucked Hales chances in tests. He might well have been in with a shout of the Ashes had it not been for his suspension until well into the series. Personally I would have a go with him. Yes he wasn't great opening when picked for the test team but he doesn't open for Notts so I think it was a mistake to try him in that position then ditch him. He's shown in the shorter formats he can bat against international bowlers so I'd definitely be interested in him further down the order. I thought Wood and Woakes were superb yesterday at the death. Obviously Butlers onslaught at the end of the innings (against Australia's first choice bowlers) deserves the majority of the plaudits but Woakes with him and then him and Wood with the ball deserve a lot of credit.
  9. Sorry I thought you meant the Spurs league game that there was the boycott for.
  10. Surely that wasn't 2008. Must have been towards the end of Pardew or even when Carver was supposed to be managing. Totally agree with the point though and with Gloomy that it's more likely we'll stay up if the players get the backing of the fans. They squad is poor, we all agree on that, but a player playing with confidence can go a lot better than one playing with none.
  11. Why didn't they go with the ABBA way with the shoot out? Was it all money money money?
  12. Apparently they're in talks for him from Coldplay. Would be a reasonable signing for them. His records probably not quite as good as Grabban's but he scores goals and he's got a bit of experience which they need given their other striking options. Looks like, similar to us, the stuck with scratching about for loans.
  13. You just need to know where to find them.
  14. Aye that's what I was thinking. I know the ECB said they would convene within 48 hours but I'm not sure whether that will be from now or after he's been to court.
  15. Stokes has been charged with affray. Not really sure what this means but I'd think its a lesser charge than what it was feared he could have been charged with. Most likely a slap on the wrist?
  16. Didn't like the second ep of black mirror so much but the third with Andrea Risebrough is very good.
  17. Aye saw this tonight. Quality film. Him and his brother are creating an excellent collection of films. McDormand, Harrelson and Rockwell are all superb. As are Oldman and Mendleson in Darkest Hour. Another good film.
  18. Was nice to hear the Aussie commentators gutted about getting convincingly beat. I did sleep through quite a bit of out bowling but from what I did see it was a complete role reversal of the tests. Wood and Plunkett looked dangerous regularly and Ali seemed to bowl with a bit of control. Whereas we rarely looked threatened. Basically it was a much more enjoyable watch.
  19. I suspect that's almost 100% accurate apart from the thick cunts probably don't realise how hideous it is.
  20. Seen Hostiles last night. Good bleak slow moving western. Cant beat them.
  21. GoT is my favourite ever series ahead of The Wire, Twin Peaks & Soprano's. Not counting all of the comedy's I love.
  22. Can you not get a car that's failed it's mot repaired and re tested? I know you said that it wasn't a good analogy but that really is awful
