Nah, Lübeck neither. For Lübeck applies the same as for the other parts of northern Germany. There were a lot struggles between the Danish Kings and these parts, but they were formally and technically parts of Germany. Some parts were at some times governed by Denmark in personal union (the king being duke of Schleswig and Holstein), but this didn't make them technically Danish either. As well as Hannover wasn't English for example.

Wolfgang, everyone knows that Hamburg was part of Denmark until 150 years ago! Sammy you shouldn't follow your role model Craig M. and really take your fingers off German beer. Your brain obviously can't cope with it. The last time Hamburg had some sort of Danish administration was sometime in the 13th century. The city was part of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation and a free imperial city since the 17th century and even kept this title after the Empire was dissolved early in the 19th century. Kiel wasn't Danish either. The part of todays Germany that was Danish is Schleswig (with the city Schleswig) which was a Danish fiefdom. As KGC rightly said this part was in the centre of terriorial disputes between Prussia/Germany and Denmark in the 19th century. Class dismissed.

According to the Daily Mail the transfer from Babel is financed via the take over that happened a couple of weeks ago...

So we offered 1m in total. Don't think Ajax will bite our hands off...

He only was a "revelation" last season ahead of the world cup. This season he has found his normal level again being purely shite (on the few occasions he actually is fit).

Did he really? Where did you get these figures from because they look a bit dodgy to me tbh. Not sure tbh, seen it a few times in a few different sources. If you look at the squad he inherited and the squad he left, most of the players changed, with a few big names coming in. I'll try and find the figures sometime. According to this German site, which is normally sort of reliable, he spend something like 20m Euro and made 23m Euro, though a couple of transfers have no value listed. Still, 70m GBP seems a bit too much for me. http://transfermarkt.de/de/verein/720/fcpo...uebersicht.html I love it when Isegrim sorts people out like this! Vorsprung durch Technik.

The translated parts are a literal interpretation. I'm still struggling a bit with the (most important part) in the middle though, but think have got it more or less right now.

If we were in for him, we amicably stepped aside.

To be fair to him, he has a right to gloat a little on this occasion. I'm not gloating, but I confidently predict that their "plan" to win the premiership doesn't succeed, unless they get the "right" manager.......... So if they don't win the Premiership they've failed? Does that mean Shepherd failed because we never won it either? And will it be a success if they form the 5th best club over the next couple of years? Especially if you take their starting position into account after being liberated from a "shit board".

Well, then Roeder shouldn't publicly set himself apparently unrealistic targets... There's nothing wrong with being ambitious. If he talked about consolidation, rebuilding, etc, then people would frown on him for that, too. As I said, he seems to be in something of a no-win situation as far as some are concerned. I'm not claiming that he's perfect or that everything he's said has been spot-on, but I do think that people are far too quick to criticise EVERYTHING he says, which is what I take issue with. I for my part don't criticise EVERYTHING, but I will criticise EVERY nonsense he comes out with, and he has come out with a lot imho. As I said on a couple of occasions, with Roeder it is rather a case of "si tacuisses". A lot of his statements are just totally unnecessary and make him look stupid if they turn out to be nonsense. He does himself no favour in talking too often to the "voice (and ear) of the fans" which Anal O. He probably should listen to some of his rather wise players...

Maybe they made up their mind because of all the nonsense Roeder already said in the past? but the problem is that they're not willing to give him any credit for the stuff he says that turned out correct. I, personally, fully back his stance not to buy shit players. To me this is idle talk tbh. No manager would say that he wants to buy "shit players" anyway. It's always what you are able to get out the players that counts. And even though Martins has started to do well, it is still early days before you really can call him a "good buy". I'll give Roeder the deserved credit when he actually signs players and they all turn out to be good, but not just by his intentions... Don't think there can be too many complaints about any of the players he actually has signed, though. I think he's had his policy justified to an extent. yes, it's a shame we haven't signed defenders, but he did say even before the window that it was going to be extremely difficult to sign anyone decent in January. People don't seem to remember him saying that, they just take the bits where he says he's hopeful of getting someone of the requisite quality in. He signed Martins, who is doing ok. He signed Sibierski in a panic state when the last transfer window closed (strange after saying that he wanted to reduce the average age and not going for players who are past it). Sib was doing ok at the beginning, but has recently been started to showing that he is the player everybody expected him to be. A good player, a shit player or maybe just mediocre player for a bottom half team? He signed Duff by the chance for good price, who so far has only be living on his reputation. Then we also have Rossi and Bernard and Srnicek who really have proved to be an astonishing success... What I know is that Newcastle are currently lying in 12th place. Even with most players to our disposal at the start of the season the team was playing horrible football. Roeder said that Newcastle have to compete for a top six finish. That's what I am judging him on and what his buys have to be able to achieve. Given that we've been in decline for three years, it's simply not realistic to expect what is, in footballing time, an overnight fix. Well, then Roeder shouldn't publicly set himself apparently unrealistic targets...

Even Wenger buys turkeys occasionally (and I don't mean at Christmas ) The fact that Roeder has such respect for Wenger's ability to buy quality players at a good price is to be applauded. Is it really so long ago that we were all complaining about Souness wasting money on Boumsong and Luque?? Roeder's got it absolutely right tbh. Exactly, no manager is immune against failures in the transfer market. I wasn't complaining about buying those players. I was complaining about not getting the right performances out of those players. That was the waste. Roeder can (as Robson did) buy as many "shit players" as he wants if he still is able to do reasonably well in the league with the squad to his disposal. Again, I will judge Roeder by results on the pitch, not on his intentions.

People are taking this thread far too serious. Another good thing about Jormany is the quality of broadcasting football from abroad. At the moment they are showing the FA-Cup game between Chelsea and Nottingham with a totally clueless commentator. They are also running a small quiz, where you can win ... wait ... a weekend VIP-trip to Middlesbrough. And you say Jormans don't have a sense of humour.

Absolutely spot on... If ONLY the geniuses HERE were consulted, we'd be better than Barcelona Seems like everyone's forgotten the stick Roeder got for waiting to get the right man....Martins has been a great signing. Give the guy a break for fucks sake. The problem is that the majority seem to have already made up their minds that they're going to nitpick every single Roeder interview, read it selectively, and then make some kind of dig at him, regardless of what he says- even the things written by Oliver now get attributed to Roeder. He can't win. Maybe they made up their mind because of all the nonsense Roeder already said in the past?

Especially as they are cripples without crutches (and started walking too late).

We do have a vast range of different mineral waters down here who really taste different. That's why I can't understand people buying the likes of Evian etc. because just judging by the large number of bottles that are sold, I reckon it actually is tap water.

I'm not bored, I am highly amused about our "planning" .

Physioroom list him with no return date. He will probably just want to link up with his drinking buddies...
