so you reckon the situation wouldn't change between November and Jan 31? Why is it we have to do everything by December but dealing inside the window is fine for everyone else? And as i've said before, most people are going by what is reported by Anal as to what Roeder has / has not done. Gooch was contacted weeks ago FFS and no-one had a clue Where has dealing inside the window got us? Of course dealing inside the window is fine if you can do it effectively. But planning and negotiating in advance would be a good idea, particularly when you feel like Roeder that the window is too restrictive. Do you think that this second successive window fuck-up is down to bad luck? you think because we don't start enquiring months ago has any bearing on whether a deal goes through on the only day it matters? How about we just send a questionaire out to every club in the world in mid september asking them to list all the players they are willing to sell to NUFC? I think that it stands to reason that negotiating over a period of several months, rather than one month, gives you a greater probability of reaching an agreement on a player. I think that's common sense. Manchester United did it with Henrik Larsson, as you've recently learned. How about you don't make silly irrelevant suggestions about questionnaires? so if Larson had borken his leg on Dec 31st, or his club's manager changed and he decided he wanted to keep him, what happens? where has 'planning' got you then? sure you have in mind potential targets before the window opens, but that's just it. Anyone suggesting Roeder didn't have that is a fucking moron. My point is, until you are in a position to talk terms and sign contracts, what's the fucking point. And then, when it turns out none of your potential deals come off, you are still up shit creek whether you started talking in October or the middle of January. Putting up Larson as an example of how it should be done, when in fact it is the only example of a contract signde before the window, is ludicrous in the extreme, especially when it's a deal we could never have done even if we tried. What if an asteroid had hit the Baltic sea and caused a tsunami flooding Sweden?

A second transfer window in a row? And it's always down to the circumstances, the weather and the baggage retrieval system they've got at Heathrow? I am pretty sure that Glen was doing more than nothing. What I am not sure is that he handled the situation well. The availability of players can already get checked before the window even starts which means that you can narrow down unrealistic options quite early. But if you have to ring around on January 31st (as Roeder openly admitted he did) then you have done your "planning" seriously wrong. you honestly think Roeder made first contact on Jan 31? No, and that was what I said. But I like your attempts to look even dumber than you actually are.

Again, I don't think anybody on here thinks that Roeder was totally inactive the weeks before, dipshit. Still, if someone openly admits that he was frantically ringing around on the last day of the transfer window, looking what is available on the market, this only gives the impression of someone not having done his job properly before.

And I actually don't think someone like Cole or maybe Hasselbaink until the end of the season would have been a bad idea. Because we actually do need bodies up front until the long term absentees come back - and that probably isn't this season...

Bramble should get his balls wired so that the managing staff can give him an electro shock every time he looks to switch off or tries to hit a long ball...

We still have Alberta Luque. -

As much as saying to only go for proven Premiership players and not some obscure foreigners and then trying to get some dodgy Frenchman...

I also liked the comment about his mobile being "worn out". What the hell is a "worn out" mobile. Does this mean, he got a top up card and Freddie only put 20 quid on it?

... for next season starts today. I expect Glen to frantically ring other managers on August 31st though.

They were already sitting together during the ManU game.

At least we did sign lady luck, just pray she doesn't get injured as well...

Lucky bastids...

Here we got, they weren't they just talking about scoring 6 or 7 on the radio?

Dyer! He's really worked on his finishing...

Good, no Luque, so there is still hope until midnight...

An obscene amount for a mediocre player. If it goes through Wist 'Am have been robbed blind. Better value than Bent for £18m though? I'd rather pay £18 million for Bent than £7.5 million for an average, injury prone defender in his late 20's tbh. I'd rather travel to San Francisco with TOPTOOL.

Isn't it a bit early for a thread about next season's line up? You could have at least waited until tomorrow.

He then get slated for not saying anything. Well, not from me. I don't need to read or hear anything. Actions on and off the pitch are sufficient.

Apparently to take over at Bayern again until the end of the season after they sacked Magath today.

I like that whenever I apply logic in anything other than a negative manner, I'm desperately in love with whomever I defend. What logic? Using your logic, Roeder is beyond reproach unless we get the actual transcripts of interviews he's made. Alright, I clearly remember this being said by Roeder quite some time ago. Coupled with the pathetic nature of the media, it doesn't take a great leap of faith to work out this is just spin. Naive of you to think otherwise. Of course it is spin. But that is how the media works. I also remember Roeder saying this a couple of days/weeks ago. IIRC it was in the context of explaining how difficult the task is at Newcastle and how he is ready to face it while others like O'Neill didn't want to take the risk. But the thing is, if you don't want the media to pick up on things like that, just don't talk about other people in a negative way. The quotes can be as old as you like, they will always get digged up. I also find it a bit of hypocritical from Roeder to talk about others when he was unhappy about the likes of Allardyce et all talking about him when he needed the permission to take the job. Roeder could really do with a lot of less talking. As I said a couple of times "Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses."
