  1. What utter bollocks. Just because you have been a decent footballer what right does that give you to walk into a top level job without any experience whatsoever? All of the big 4's managers in this country haven't been top level players. Seriously, get a clue. Why are you harping on about "the right" to be a manager? Who is talking about "the right" to be a manager? I am not talking about "rights", man. Of course, anyone can be a manager. Technically you could know sod all about football and be a manager. All it's down to like any job is if you can get employed. And calm down a little too... If you have never been there, and done it - everything from drills, training, and doing the business on a Saturday afternoon, I DO believe you are lacking that something, an extra bit of nous and experience you can use to manage a team. OK, so the guy has had an awesome apprenticeship with Robson, and will have learned a lot in that time, but that edge is still missing and I genuinely believe he would be a better manager for it had he been a top player. PLEASE do not confuse this as meaning a top player automatically makes a good manager. If you believe this is my point then you need to read up on your English. Its the same for any kind of coach. Do you think a boxer can be trained by a guy who has never stepped in the ring better than a trained coach who has also fought the greatest fighters of his time and been successful? Sure, on some occasions this may be true one for one, but that little extra nous through actual experience of the sport is what JM will never have. Hopefully you understand what I'm saying now and are less offended. Disagree entirely. Football is now a science and all the third party help available from fitness to psychologists and video aid and match capture technology make the modern manager more of a boffin/moticator/ tactician than 'roll your sleeves up in training' etc. .... lol Mate... Training was just an example, not the be all and end all of my point. From Training, to Tactics, everything. In a nutshell, If you've been there and done that at the top level, when it comes to the day of the game and you're 1-0 down and changes need made, that experience helps. You know from countless games and success what works and doesn't. You can teach anyone theories but there is simply no substitute for experience. Anyway, forget it. I can see the next reply being along the lines of "The head coach not the manager does the training and tactics" or similar so just leave it!!!

For the second time I did not say GOOD PLAYER = GOOD MANAGER. Read above, yes READ.

  4. Jose = a poor man's Sir bob. JM only started out as Bobby's translator at Lisbon and the two grew closer as Bobby moved about, taking on more of an "assistant" role at Barca. I doubt any managers tactics and ability if they have never played at the top level. How can you coach a team if you have never been out there and done it yourself? Overrated in my opinion.
  5. My arse is hairy, stinks, and is never quite wiped properly at any one moment. As I'm a real man this is obvious but is also a deterrant to this sort of behaviour... love her thoughts but as has been said above all one way traffic for me.
  6. One of my conquests has been from Wallsend, one of the dirtiest little sluts i've been with and not got a bad word to say about her or her mothers house!
  7. Hilariously funny if not only for the way the show had blatantly used this disability to rake in viewers. The batman and robin style screen text made this obvious! Personal favourite moment was the older guy, the main one talking, shouting "PERV!", "PEADO!" at the vicar guy showing him round the church. He then went outside and started shouting "BOMB!", "BIN LADEN!".
  8. Can't believe Beardsley isn't in there, the man was a fucking genious. Ahead of Cantona as attacking midfield. Cantona was No. 7.... but a forward. 4-3-3 Schmeichael (or however it' s spelled) Pearce Adams Campbell Neville Beardsley Vieira Beckham Cantona Shearer Cole
  9. I love it the way, in these threads, someone's job as a box shifter in a factory turns into Planning Management Analyst and a word processer turns into Business Administration Engineer! I'm a Garbologist Agent.
  10. Such an inconsiderate club, I can't believe they make Dyer run between the normal slalom posts and not the ones especially designed for dwarfs. Sounds believable to me, the things fly everywhere and I bet the top of a post is just at his eye level.
  11. Have no doubt about it Lawro - sympathisers; he hates us, as much as we hate him. Wanker.
  12. This is such a STUPID discussion. Ginola is better, end of story. This: UEFA CUP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwy_MrjR3R8 Mind blowing.
  13. I can see Blaydon coming over the horizon with a ploom of smoke at his heels.

  15. No worries going to see an advisor mate, to use a shit word, just a bit of a "natter". If you're in permanent work, go for it. Don't throw your money down the drain by renting. Assuming their isn't a housing market price crash, or interest rates start soaring (they have actually just gone up last month!) you'll be reet.

    best dj

It's BCM Mate. Dunno what the translation is, British Cattle Market fits. I quite liked DJ Gotti the resident DJ (he does various places in the North East too) downstairs, also .

    Own up!

Being honest I only do about 70 - 30 in favour of washing. I'm careful anyway. So I voted no water down the rest of the BS.
  18. Sounds like a cross between Neil Kinnock and Prince Charles.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-N8auaV1ZBM Just ground my teeth to the gums, shockingly, manged to watch until the end.
  20. Mother has rattled me a few times as a kid, just on the leg like. Done the trick, but I don't think it was the best way to go about it. Some people just command respect and it's hard tp pin point what it is. My Dad never hit me, but I always remember being absolutely shit scared, way more than my mother, if he found out about me stepping out of line, and would always be on best behaviour!
  21. Hope he gets well soon. I disagree about the current show being "better" than the old one though, with Tiff, Quentin, and the other guy who had an accident on his motorbike. They're totally different shows. The current one is much more high budget and will appeal to the greater "vegetable" like TV audience rather than the car enthusiast. Top Gear of old, my personal favourite, was much more focussed on the actual "review" of a car, and the car itself. The current show, still good, is more aimed at general "entertainment" and is largely based around a staged event / fictional event that runs staggered throughout the show. It's almost like comparing the Top Gear magazine to Max Power... :S
  22. I think Roeder seems like a nice guy as a person, but sometimes too fucking nice. I could barely watch the end of his post match interview due to him being "SO SORRY" about upsetting anyone. Fuck them. STOP SAYING SORRY a million times, tell them to get fucked and go and cry home to their mothers as we won. And if you have to apologise, once is enough, you soft shite.
  23. The fact is we don't know ALL the facts, we have not been following Shepherd, Roeder, et al, with tapped phone conversations and spying on his every move through video surveillance so we probably have very limited knowledge of who he did try to sign, defenders or otherwise, how he came about being unsuccessful in certain signings, and so we have actually NO IDEA whether it is through any fault of his own, personal circumstances, or anything. So i would be more inclined to agree we do not know for sure they were "panic buys" - but please someone define what must be the criteria precisely to result in the status of "panic buy" I think the most Idiotic point of this thread is that you, gemmill, and Dan, seem to be arguing totally seperate points of view!
  24. Just listened to the Interview on the BBC website with Roeder, and once again he goes completely out of his way to make a massive point about Martins being 21! How can he be 21.... Look at him!! He is no way younger than Shola, there's about 10 years between them!
