To be fair Leazes, it's difficult to legislate (literally) for something like this. If he had done it officially through the HFEA he would have been legally protected - that's the problem, it is now accepted that you have no protection in terms of plain common sense. The CSA is a prime example of this attitude. Like any other revenue collecting organisation the CSA has targets to meet!! My advice to him is to try for some access through legal channels (the courts hate the idea of queers and kids living together) then his payments would reduce, so he could afford to have kids with his new partner. Which then would also reduce his payments even more!! Sounds like the bed-rock for a beautiful father-son relationship.

If Mike gives him 100million I think I might want some waffa cup action. Chewsea only got the Carling Cup for that.

aye, Canny. Well, any 'plan' the owner has wouldn't necessarily include Allardyce, would it? He never appointed him. Had this been a mid-season takeover, maybe, but Ashley came in in the summer, and had plenty time to review and approve BSA's 'plans' - the infamous review process, and chose to stick with him. Considering that City gadgie brought SGE in and Lerner pre-approved O'Neill during their takeovers, I take this as tacit approval of BSA by Ashley, and include Ashley in any culpability if he turns out to be crap. Either that or Ashley didn't think to contact any while thinking about taking over a PL club, in which case, how's he going to fair in January? Bar the obvious option. Makes me think the Capello talk is rubbish.

I've always laughed at Old Firm fans having flags with "100% loyal" on them - apart from odd times when one or the other win everything its a fucking joke to think they've ever been tested on this score. Rest of the post is pretty much spot on as well. Rangers won it for a decade, how did Celtic react?

She's a bit daft if it is true, we have an extradition arrangement with Panama. -
I think people look back fondly on Robson for obvious reasons, but I don't think we were going anywhere fast in the end, but plenty of fans were acting like we had already got somewhere. There were serious problems behind the scenes, it would have gone bad quite quickly I think, and the lack of a willing replacement would have seen us back in the bottom half (as it did). There are quite a few clubs in the Premiership that have had a good few seasons and yet revert to crap quite easily having achieved nothing or even improved their long term fortunes, and we exhausted our bank account in these times.

I don't remember, I honestly don't. I think I have permanently damaged my brain with booze, I can never answer these types of posts. Does kissing your first car/paycheck count?

Shearer ready to step in with Allardyce one game from the sack
RlCO replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
...or the fucking meddling media... Sadly the media take their lead from the fans, it doesn't take 2 minutes to find many quotes from Toon fans on the net or in the street who want Sam sacked and Shearer installed right now (or IF! we get beat by Arsenal - what's that all about?). Even a few enlightened ones honestly seem to think that if Sam went now and we couldn't get Mourhino, Capello, Lippi etc, then he should get the job. I have a bad feeling that we will ruin him before he actually gets a chance to do a good job here, he won't ever be given the chance to manage at another club unless we are flying, he will be called on until he comes here and, on the balance of all probabilites, achieves nothing. -

didn't you harp on a day or two ago about "proper fans?" Clearly you weren't talking about yourself If you think this season is shite, thick cunt, you wouldn;t have lasted 5 minutes when it was really shite. And that is when the club had only the real fans left. What a wanker No I wasn't, you blind cunt. And I was not talking about the season, I was talking about the hysterical fans near me. In my opinion I've endured worse football at SJP. -
A few observations: 1. It only refers to a meeting about the break, nothing about tactics 2. If 1 is true, what discussion is there to have apart from 'At the end of the day, I am the manager'? Fair enough if we had a team full of proven winners, but as it says Owen was not there, to my mind Nicky Butt is the only non-Allardyce buy that has any right to be questioning the manager beyond the stage of giving a polite private opinion.

Can we not have some kind of warning system for those posts that rapidly descend in anal/vaginal topics? I appreciate that might be every other post, but I'm trying to have me egg and chips here. -
That opinion was exactly the reason for the interview.

I gave up this season precisely because of some of the cockends near my old seat. It's pretty bad when you can't concentrate on a game when you just want to bray the fuck out of the bloke 2 seats away. I have rediscovered the joys of a cheap pint in hand in a proper glass, ready access to a bar, and quiet contemplation of the ebb and flow of the game with the benefit of action replays to confirm instantly that yes, Martins was onside and we were robbed. -
Your mate needs to find a better source than a 'newspaper'.

But management is a proper job Mr. Rico, albeit in Football, Manufacturing, Sales, or whatever business is dependent on results. I was production manager at a boat-building company in California which had a sister plant in Virginia that was having difficulties meeting production schedules. I was sent to the Virginia plant for as long as it took to straighten the place out, I was back in 5 weeks. However, in the meantime the company hired a production manager to replace me in my absense. He had a track record of being a competent production manager with the Caterpillar company back East, he lasted 30 days before they let him go. The methods, ideas, and know-how he brought with him from his previous work-place were not compatable with the work-force at his new job and schedules fell behind in quick time. Admit it, you completely made that up. Even if you didn't, the only possible analogy here is if Sam was responsible for the team bus and couldn't get us to the games on time.

If you are going to compare it to a proper job, the only measure of performance is the final league table. You don't get sacked because in some people's opinion who has nothing to do with your job thinks you might not make your sales target that isn't due for 5 months yet.

Ultimately a manager will be respected on what he does as a manager but there is not doubt that if Shearer walked through the dressing room door as manager he'd command a hell of a lot more respect than some lower league journey man in his first job. Is that what you class Allardyce as? A lower league journey man? EDIT: read it wrong, first job... Quite right, but I don't think we would ever get a lower league journey man coming here as his first job. -

Rubbish, international teams pretty much pick themselves, and the tactics come from that. What tough tactical decisions did McLaren really have to take? Arguably he over complicated what is compared to Premiership football an easy job, and failed because of it. I've heard plenty stories where so called top former players/managers like Shearer have been treated appalingly by Premiership players, these are different people to your average fan. And once again, players giving respect to a fellow player is nothing like giving respect as a manager. Nothing at all. Complete and utter joke comment and one of the few times I've genuinely laughed at my monitor. I suppose you wanted Heskey and Bently in then? Nah, you wanted Harper in goal didn't you? -

I heard a story about Viduka that makes think Shearer would be getting no respect there. Momentum is easily lost. Status? I'm afraid he only has status to us, I don't think he carries much weight amongst foreign players, who would frankly wonder why they are taking orders from someone only 5 years older than them. Even the current crop of supposed crap in the squad there a few player who can claim to have achieved more than him as footballers. Bollocks, Shearer was recognised as one of the top strikers in the world at a time, even look at what Berbatov was saying recently about him, his status stretches much further than the Newcastle area. The only thing is no one knows if he's got the coaching ability or tactical nous for the job until he actually manages a team. Do you think Berbatov would be happy to be managed by him right now? It's one thing to give respect to a fellow professional player, it's another to transfer that into respect as a manager. What about Rudi Voller, who's first managerial position was the krauts who he took to the WC Final. Or what about Klinsmann who did a great job. Van Basten hasn't done bad. Dalglish won the league in his first season. Keegan whether people on here like to admit it or not, was the best manager we've had since the 50's etc etc etc etc National teams are much different, and are always going to respect past players. Keegan wasn't taking over a team of top players in the Premiership, they were shite, in his own words. Him and Terry Mac even considered putting their boots on, its not even comparable. pmsl and Shearer would be? Of course not, Cacapa is a Division One donkey. Probably a mackem too. -
