Criminally forgotten nowadays in the pantheon of all time greats, along with Pele. Ronaldo and Messi didn’t help invent a new way of playing the game. They deny that to fuck and apparently the Moores family had more of an influence at Everton. There was some involvement at LFC but I can’t find an independent source to get to the truth tbh. There’s no doubt that they did good business back in the day, they signed Rush for 20k got 3mill for him which went a long way to paying for Aldridge, Barnes, Beardsley and Houghton the following season. They did the same with Coutinho too, signing Allison & VVD off the back of his sale…but as someone said (might have been Dave) a while back they’ve had an elite level of funding for decades.
