  1. I think you're just looking wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much into little things.. Aye, probably. My main point was what a total mug he made of himself. Thats funny.....a Rangers fan I work with told me yesterday that Alan Smith is a huge Rangers fan....I told him I thought he'd be more likely to be a Leeds fan, but he said that Smith became keen on the Gers when they played Leeds in the champs league in the early 90s
  2. Thats funny.... earlier this week Fergie said the only player not fit for Sundays Charity Shield is Michael Carrick looks like he wasnt counting Hargreaves but its fair to say only him, Ferdinand and Anderson will definetly miss their league opener v our good selves http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_pre...njury_table.php
  3. good comment I've not heard before. It is and it started happening in the mid 80s just as I left school on that side of the border. There was also a large scale teachers strike and part of their industrial action was a ban on members taing extra curricular activities including Saturday morning sport. I went to Kelso High School and we had 6 rugby teams on a Staurday morning without fail. My sister works at the school now and says they stuggle to turn out 3 most weeks. Since then the only truly international class football player Scotland have produced may be John Collins but I know that may well be a view not endorsed by the majority of posters on here The other side of this coin is communities, and as mentioned earlier in the thread this affects the North East as much as it does Scotland. The ones that produced all the quality players (invariably industrial and working class; Scotlands central belt, the north east,Merseyside,East London etc) are all sad shadows of their former selves. The jobs went first, then the loss of self respect needed to dedicate yourself to sport when days are long and full of nothing. The corresponding benefit culture that sprang up to replace the jobs I imagine saps any will from potentially good players, and that is before you consider cheap and available drugs on lots of street corners. This is starting to affect the England team as we speak, look beyond the first 11 and you see one of the reasons why they failed so badly in the summer....Green and Upson first choice back up? if it is said that West Ham won the world cup in 66 you could say they went a large way to blowing it in for England in 2010. These islands dont produce the players they once did full stop. And its down to society rather than foreign players/coaches/lack of coaching etc if you ask me.
  4. I think he might be hanging out around the Life Centre a fair bit now hes back..... http://footballboners.blogspot.com/2009/03/xisco.html
  5. True, but the only reason you're on here is because you're fuckin jealous of those crowds. Be a good little bell end and run along to admire all your 20 zillion trophies....we don't care about you, them or your club.....and one things for sure we'll never be in our nearest and bitterest rivals shadow, or be so piss poor in comparison to them that they have to take up a rivalry with another club. havent they just spent the last season in the division above you? Yeah but its not quite the same as 5 European cups and 18 league titles is it? Or that a now pretty much second rate Liverpool still look down their noses at you lot. Historically we're more succesful than Sunderland. Thats a narrow minded and parochial view admittedly, but its mostly what English football is about, outside of the top level anyway. And lets face it, both Newcastle and Everton know all about being outside the top level.

  7. Liverpool population- 460,000 Newcastle population- 190,000 From 2001 census. Catchment area? If you take Tyne and Wear, the population in 2001 was 1,095,200 Merseyside was 1,362,026 So theres the best part of 400,000 more potential supporters in Merseyside than there is in Tyne and Wear and both have 2 Premier League clubs.....and obviously if you add together the monthly attendance figures for eachof the 4 clubs during the season you may well find that the North East footballing public has greater numbers in general than Merseyside despite the disparity between population and relative success of the 4 clubs. Liverpool are one of the worlds great football clubs due to their history but couldnt fill their ground for every game last season. Everton?...the less said the better I think
  8. Liverpool population- 460,000 Newcastle population- 190,000 From 2001 census. what difference does that make? you still only have 1 team But Everton and Liverpool are historically far more successful clubs, which, according to some, is all that matters You should be packed out every week old son because you won the FA cup in 1995. so higher attendances matter more than trophy's won? how many points do you get for filling your ground? About as many as you get for winning the FA cup, which you used further back in the thread when you said you were awful in the 90s and yet still won more than us, which is true. By the way, do you lot still send Hans Segers christmas cards?

  10. Has there been a mass breakout from Broadmoor this evening?
  11. I dont usually get involved in these little tete a tetes but it has to be pointed out that sniffer was the nickname of Alan Clark, centre forward for Don Revie's Leeds
  12. Theres a school of thought that think this man wasnt guilty anyway.... Don't know if the Doctor is a sad old conspiracy theorist or not but but I think theres a lot more to this affair than meets the eye. In view of this, maybe the Senate commitee should stop being such a bunch of posturing drama queens and instead try to tell the truth about what really happened and why Gadaffi was basically implicated in the first place and then, when it was conveniant, brought in from the cold. But the US (and former UK based multi national oil corporations) may well regard something like this as inconveniant, telling the truth to bereaved relatives in the US and the UK and all that, when there are tyrants who could be fingered and money to be made on the side of it. In any case, the Scottish justice system was seemingly good enough to secure a very dodgy conviction in the first place but as soon as they make a decision (suppported by independant medical evidence that has been supplied to the Senate) that the US doesn't agree with they suddenly have to answer for it in full US public view. I don't think they are entitled to have it both ways.
  13. think I fell for this hook line and sinker yesterday...the windows logo did me I think...nowts happened yet and i dont use my laptop for banking for this very reason....but I do the odd bit of shopping...should in cancel my bankcard?
  14. at least 5 years past his best. never had any pace, can finish still ( though last season it was all about ronaldo). would want what 100k a week wages... not worth it.... the problem with raul was that he was too slow to play with the other forwards at madrid, and every time he had the ball he kept hold of it. and then wasted it. just what you need for a team that'll struggle.... Not suggesting he would have been anywhere near up to it this time around, just mean how frustrating it must be to play for your country for so many years and then see them take the top prize at the first time of asking without you. He wasnt in the squad when they won the Euros either. Fuck all in this as Hughton said. Placed in a paper by a journo being hand fed shite from the players agent. That kid from Scunny is much more Ashley's style, regardless of his ability....or Raul's for that matter.
  15. I could sort that out for you mate ...with her like ...although am sure you're very nice too
  16. shouldnt this thread be called "women who were quite clearly stunning/goregeous/hot in their youth and are still canny good now like" Victoria Coren
  17. The way they're all stood makes them look like they're advertising "Autonomy" as some sort of gay lifestyle magazine
  18. Struggling to sell Season Tickets/Memberships? Aye but you know NUFC, we'll sign a great player for millions of pounds and pay him a fortune in the first week in August and season ticket sales will go through the roof
  19. Fuckin useless cunt....Harry Roberts was on the run for 3 months in Epping Forest after he'd killed 3 coppers
  20. Twat wanted him to move to the Bulls. http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/gilbert_letter_100708.html Cringeworthy. well its more than Mike Ashleys said to us in 3 years....
  21. Didnt the Premier League go very "4 3 3/4 5 1" after Greece won the Euros in 2004?
  22. Is that another way of saying the industrial base in Western Europe is virtually redundant now after a near 40 year illness due to the far east being able to do things cheaper? Thousands of communites have lost their reasons to exist in that time, for an example most of us just need to look out of the window. The tories are complete cunts, but it looks like they're just putting the country out of its misery and unless you work in Asda or Tescos (are these two the only companies that make a profit?) you're frankly fucked. I think I'm going to go to Canada....who are the Newcastle United of the ice hockey league?
  23. So is it 1 30pm or 4pm?... nufc.com says 4....polis will be chauffed as nuts....do you think Raooooul will be found by then?
  24. Thankfully I work for one of the biggest construction firms in Europe. Never got anywhere near receivership but the CEO was given the Spanish Archer as a result. As for how we lost it.... combinbation of shite document control and a colossal fuck up in the estimating dept. I've suffered with that...I refused to ket 20 odd sparks start work one day because the drawings issued hadnt been approved...that part of the job was up and down 4 times after that. They never learn Anyway, why in the name of fuck cant this country afford to renew crumbling 20th century schools so our kids can be educated in the right enviroment?...because thats what the coalition are basically saying. Don't know if Labour wouldve cut back that much...it was truly one of their flagship policies they could point to that had benefitted people...pity Gordon had left it off the balance sheet....
