I have been ruminating on this for a few hours now and I don’t think Charlie Kirk was meant to die. Firstly he was shot in the neck. Nobody aims for the neck, it’s a much smaller target than the head or centre mass and to be lethal you have to cut an artery or get it dead on the throat and through the spine. Just not a practical aiming spot. Second the shot was approximately 130 metres. Not a massively difficult shot for a competent marksman so they should have hit the target they were aiming for. Third it was a cold bore shot, unless they had been warming the rifle somewhere else a kill shot is not normally performed on a cold barrel. I personally think there is a chance it was supposed to be a near miss (like Trump’s) but something went wrong with the aim or a gust of wind or they tried to make it too close. Well that’s my theory.

It’s a fairly easy shot with that rifle, I bet he wasn’t aiming for his neck though.
