Greatest Player You've Ever Seen In An England Shirt?
tinofbeans replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
looking back on my earlier post, we really should also consider jimmy greaves. 44 goals in 57 caps is a fantastic strike rate. unlike lineker (but like shearer) could make goals on his own, and like gazza, liked the booze a bit too much. -

best player technically, gazza or beardsley. was also a huge fan of tony adams. proper centre back... -
strengthening in the right area's and not trophy signing players... never catch on...
-
rumour has it his punching power is 10 times that of a man the same weight as him.... i admire his hunger, but we don't want him going down the frank bruno way of life, needs to get out whilst the going is good.

for those of you that want to watch decent racing ( and i've managed to sit through the last 2 f1 races without going into a coma...) the british moto gp is on today. bbc 2 12.20 to 2pm. proper racing tbh.

hatton is a proper brawler and a very good fighter. he dominated lat night and shows why we should be proud of him.

lampard is a classic example of the midfielder that goes missing for large chunks of the game. he's not a man that can grab the game by the scruff of the neck (unlike gerrard). was an excellent player for us in the run up to euro 2004 but since then i think he will say he's not been consistent (or good) enough. i agree with kenneth noisewater's statements, that sums it up better than i could.

for me out of the 4 full backs i see the following 1 baines has a powerful shot and ain't bad going forward 2 shorey is (comparatively) the dead ball wizard, good defensively and going forward 3 bridge is the best footballer there, seems a little injury prone. 4 drenthe seems a class act for the u21's of holland. clearly wants a transfer. note these are not in any order if we could get him, i'd go for bridge then shorey. drenthe does look good but against quality opposition i don't know.....

is a good player. not world class but still someone who scores way more than defoe. (better footballer as well) and better attitude. 31 goals in 68 appearances fairly good in a team as average as charlton.

any decent business man would do this. he's paying them off to get rid of the corrupt people who have restricted this club for so long... go on big mike! if he's bringing his own people in would that mean david dein (who is a close personal friend of his). hope so.

from what i understand the talent and ability of the lad is well documented, it was (under the previous regime) his training and attitude. if sam gets him working for the team then great. i have a funny feeling he will. also since when was luque a centre forward? used to play on the left for deportivo....
-
excellent bit of business for arsenal if this goes through. bought for 10.5mil ( i think when he was 22/23) sold for 16 mil when he's virtually 30. has done his bit for arsenal , but from those itk wanted things his way a bit too much. their team needs 2 goalscoring forwards and a long term replacement for gilberto. other than that they are good enough i think to get a top 3 place again.

coventry city esque. fucking rubbish.
-
squad player, needs to improve his touch. will score goals if motivated correctly. will never be consistent enough for us i fear. currently with the players we have on our books he looks like our 4th choice striker.
-
mourinho turned the "thick as mince" winger into some bizarre non passing fullback cum wide player without tricks. thanks jose. also always comes back from injuries too soon and has no confidence! apart from that he's ok though!
-
doubt it but luke young might come here soon.
-
that miguel is a proper good right back, hindsight says we'd have probably turned him into a portuguese andy griffin...
-
downloaded the new ulrich schnauss album off t'interweb and i'll buy the album when its released, the dowwnload sounds like its been overly compressed and put through the reverb from hell! but the songs are still there, some very good tunes. still trying too hard to be the elctronica version of the house of love or chapterhouse tbh tho.

imo, the lad is outpacing the best driver in the world (alonso) in the same car, a lot of people put this down to the fact that lewis is a smoother driver and has got the natural pace and acumen to think ahead and change the way he races if needs be. I personally do beleive a bit of the hype as the results do not lie. also schumacher rates him, and he can't be a bad judge of racing driver. still you are only as good as the car you are in tbh.
-
hope sams got some more targets... the squad is paper thin even with this new lad.
-
fair enough. my view as you may have guessed was based on his act. RIP.
-
one mans racist bigot and pig, another mans martyr for the cause. personally i think he was vile.
-
reckon it'd be pretty much the same as tevez's contract? i do.
-
he was the iceman, now its all MOR rubbish. listening to the new white stripes album. its a bit hit and miss. she still drums like a drunk.
