truth of the matter is owen has never commited himself to us 100% and never will. i'd take whatever money we can get for him at the moment. he'll go next year if he doesn't this year....
-
he's also not the quickest player ever (taylor) and his tacklings not the best --- goodish going forward and has a thunderbolt left foot but would get caught out too often at full back.
-
couldn't agree more. very good player in his role, but with parker and butt here would he find the competition a bit fierce?
-
true enough but lampard was always one to go missing for half a game then come up with the winner.... and compared to our midfielders he's probably played 10 -15 more games than any of them in the last 3 seasons.... trouble for him is who in europe would want him on those wages... i know barcelona and madrid have both been having second thoughts. terry is a class player and the player long term chelsea need to keep (alongside essien and cech)
-
looking at the players on our books i beleive if all were available more (i.e. fewer injuries) often then there is no reason why we shouldn't be looking at a top 8 finish. if we bring in two class full backs and a centre back or 2 and a big man up front (like viduka) as well as a midfielder that can take the game by the scruff of the neck ten there is no reason we can't challenge for top 6 or 5th place. i doubt very much whether we can break the top 4 stranglehold though in our first season.
-
yes but despite him having an inflated ego ( i don't think for example he is worth anywhere near what he's being paid) he has been far better than shevchenko or ballack his season gone. oh and neither is terry (happy with just earning 100+k a week that is)

self congratulating wanker. we don't need players like him at the club.

omfg. windowlickers. these thick as mince characters aren't typical of the classy geordie people i know.

good enough to play in midfield as well. shame his career was cut short by injury.
-
apologies, i was just replying to who won the most european cups. you're right about the comparison, he was an outside left or winger. no comparison to maldini for example. different player. gento could run 11 second 100metres with the ball according to folklore and i'd expect him to be technically good enough (in theory of course) to at least play in the premiership if he were a few (around 40) years younger.
-
maldini was the best defender i've ever seen, simply because he could play all the way across the back as well and never look out of position and had all the attributes needed... bit like kohler as well but better technically. in terms of british defenders, tony adams was always a favourite because he was a leader and a really good captain as well as being a good footballer. not anywhere near as good as maldini of course. oh and gento, would probably be good enough to get into most champions league sides if he were in his prime.
-
can't argue with that.
-
nope. just hope owen doesn't get injured. can't have that affect his sell on value.
-
still far too error prone and prone to bouts of stupid behaviour... note the red cards he got this year and his stupid play acting.... far from good enough despite thinking he is fiddy cent...
