Those defending Roeder over this one fail to understand the following: There is nothing wrong with having a number of back-up players in the squad, i.e. players who can come in, do a job and who won't complain when they're not playing. The point is that there are probably literally dozens of (younger) players who could fill that role better than Sibierski. I also agree with the poster who pointed out that giving Sibierski a two-year contract leading up to his retirement is not exactly an incentive for him to try as hard as possible to impress. There is an argument for saying that Sibierski's purple patch probably had a lot to do with the fact that he was playing for what is left of his footballing career.

He's the manager we should never have needed...but he's the right man for the situation now. for the money he's spent, hes done well, still think duff was a shephard signing I don't know if anyone else reads Four Four Two but they recently had the 100 highest paid in football and Duff was listed. They worked out that NUFC are paying more than the 5 mil. that is often mentioned... it reeks of a Shepherd signing... We all know Shepherd never interferes with transfers though.

Not for the sake of it, but certainly there have been a number of poor aquisitions, and it doesn't seem to have improved the squad any, despite greater depth. Well, we'll have to judge how someone like Roeder is doing in the transfer market when he signs the same amount of players. I think there will always be some players who turn out to be rubbish. That happens at every club, be it Manchester, Arsenal, Spurs or us... Them having not improved their squad is questionable tbh. Anyway, the new, trendy spursbashing is really getting boring tbstbs.
