1. It's the biggest clanger since selling Les Ferdinand mate. In fact it took 5 years and a few crap signings [apart from JDT who had obvious potential] and money down the drain trying, until Bellamy eventually arrived !!!
2. hadaway. I always said Bellamy was a great player, yu troublemaker yes, I always thought Kluivert and Amebi wouldn't be good, I never doubted Kluiverts technical ability, that has always been top class, just his hunger and attitude, and desire to adjust, however I have hoped for the last 2 years Jenas would turn out to be the player that he was supposed to be, but only now we have Parker and Emre I have realised just how shit he has been. And aye, that is based on 20 minutes in Emre's case, 1 game against West Ham in Parkers, easily our man of the match in both games. Sometimes you make a judgement in one game, whats wrong with that. I haven't made one yet on luque, only commented on what i saw on Sunday. As I said the best player I ever saw play for Newcastle was Tony Green, whose debut away to Everton was quiet too, and he also only met his team mates for the first time just before the game. It's obvious Luque gave us better balance, and being left footed is always good for that, but whether he will be worth 10m .... thats a tall order, we will see. Nice one Gemmill. Trying to put words into my mouth...but I don't mind really. it does bother me that Jenas may go to a club and find the drive he has always lacked at newcastle, when he is surrounded by a club more used to winning maybe. But I am pretty certain now that he isn't going to do that here. See above. I have never thought Robert was anywhere near as important as Bellamy, but he was still important in spite of him being bloody frustrating. Me and my mate at half time agreed he had been quite lively, but we both agreed at the end he just looked pissed off and totally depressed !!!! We saw him once or twice not making himself as available as he had been earlier too, etc which I just think is worrying, especially for his first game. when we signed Bellamy I was over the moon, because I always thought he was a top player playing for a poor side. He was stuck out on the wing sometimes by Strachan [another managerial genius] but when he moved inside nearer to Hartson he was electric and I thought then that this was his natural position and wondered why he was stuck out wide.
3. Well man, FFS, the lad hasnt even trained with the rest of the squad!!!!! And for me, Laurent Robert was a waste of space and yet to LM he was freakin Pele!!! Luque will be far more effective than Robert in the long run, I am certain of that. 21539 I'm sorry, but that is just plain arrogance, no-one can know that. If he scores and supplies half the goals Robert did he will be doing well. Robert was a very capable player in offense, you would have to be very prejudiced to dispute that. He's been getting great reports from Pompey too, even though their team is otherwise quite shit. And it's early days, but we certainly don't look as good without him so far, do we? 21545 Its not just arrogance its utter bollocks until the bloke has been here for a few years and come close to matching the number of goals and assists Robert achieved. But why let that get in the way of another whinge about Robert eh? As for Laurent at Portsmouth, he's currently scored 1, set up 2 and from what highlights i've seen put another two on a plate but his team mates missed them (not his fault) i wish we had somebody doing that for us. 21549 Robert will score from free kicks, granted. If you could have brought him just to take those then take him off again he would have been worth a place. He put our left fullback under pressure countless times as he wouldnt track back the other teams wing/full back. We couldnt afford the luxury, plus he wouldnt stop yakking to the press, both under SBR and Souness he was told to shut up, he wouldnt do it and now he's gone. Last of all, if he was so good, why never near the French team? 21599 At the end of the day, if the team doesn't make at least 5th, then Souness' collective attempt at changing it has been for the worse, and Robert was a major player in the team that qualified for the Champions League. But Bellamy is the biggest clanger anyway. If you don't see that and are blinded by Souness' spin, then like others Terry Macs appointment hasn't been for nothing, there is always someone gullible to ignore facts.
4. Agree. Coming from spanish footy to the prem, with no pre season or practically any training with his new team he gets thrown into his debut straight away, against one of the top teams in the prem, whilst we are in the middleof a crisis and playing shite and having little or no help in attack because of our manager/formation, the injuries etc. And people think you can judge him on this??? You don't judge any player after one game, some players do little for a season before becoming great players (Henry, Pires etc at arsenal being the best examples) 21099 Has it ever happened with a manager? Instant success is rare in this world. Working at things is how you get somewhere....... 21109 Jesus wept, he has played 1 game with no prior training with the rest of the team and has missed personal training due to flying here to sign, aswell as being pulled from Deportivo last fixture. Fact of the matter is that you (LM) are pro whiner, nothing anybody does is ever acceptable to you. God, man, you are so depressing, do you take Zoloft, if not I would recommend a vist to the Quack, I think you need it. 21515 I think you must have a good view of the match mate... Anyway, read the posts properly, you must be taking as much notice of the posts as you do of the game on telly !
5. good post. especially the last word. 21071 Omar the expert has seen Newcastle play how many times ?? 21116 And what's that got to do with anything about Luque? I might not go to as many games as you, but I saw the game yesterday. He didn't lack heart; you're saying this because you're a narrow minded fan that thinks every foreigner doesn’t give 100%. If this were Owen, you wouldn't be saying that, why? Because he's English! If you think Dyer, Jenas or Ameobi give 100% for the cause, then your observation skills are shit, and therefore there’s no point in trusting your opinion, even if you were there. Before boasting about how many games you go to, try to observe the game probably. 21434 I see the game properly, because I am there. I saw that Kluivert was a fat waster who wouldn't break sweat for Newcastle, and for some reason you still think differently. Quite often my "judgement" as you call it turns out correct, it did in Kluiverts case anyway, and it did with Ameobi's too. Find me saying that Dyer, Jenas and Ameobi give everything for Newcastle, especially Ameobi being anything other than hopeless, who the majority of people a year ago said was Shearers natural replacement. Were you one of those ? Or are you just someone who wear rose tinted specs and thinks because someone signs for the toon they must be brilliant because they play for the toon? I realised the stupidiy of that way of thinking 35 years ago.
6. And what the hell has he done? So he's had a good start to his career. Sorry but that doesn't make him a good manager. If we are to take that type of gamble, we may as well give the job to Shearer. 21646 Well he's no more ridiculous than some of the suggestions on here, he's already got premiership experience and he's spent fuck all. I think he has the look of a determined manager and he wouldn't be asking the mega bucks that other candidates might be. Just remember, for every Arsene Wenger, there's a Christian Gross. 21650 As if he would come anyway. He's at a club who back him and the fans love him. Not to mention a team who play for him. Why would he give up that job for Newcastle? Because he once played for us? All those who mention the likes of Pearce, Newell, Dowie et al, we may as well keep Souness. Like someone said, just because they may be better than Souness, means feck all. Lets sign Horsefield to replace Shearer, same type of player but Horsefield is more mobile and younger. 21657 Also for Pearce, read john Gregory. The John Gregory who won his first 8 games a as manager at Villa, then .............. ??? He might be a good manager, but at the moment he is simply a potential one who took over Keegans players, and Keegan has left a good set of players and a good club everywhere he has been. The real test for Pearce will be when he starts buying and selling seriously.
7. Always said too that if clubs pay top dollar for players, why not pay top dollar for the right manager. The manager is THE most important person at any football club, bar none, as Renton [i think] said the other day, any club, not just us, has to have the right manager or they are just pissing in the wind. Thats why I say we should try and get Ferguson or Wenger, just go for them. Make them an offer they simply can't refuse. They both might be ready for a new, last challenge. All the real football people know what a prize Newcastle would be if they cracked it. Those who have turned it down because it's too big for them...well they are pygmies, and it is better we found out now rather than later. I remember when Jim Smith was the 8th choice for the job, but back then things were a lot different to now, you couldn't blame people not wanting to come to Newcastle, we were a club like Sheffield Wednesday are now. It's one area where I do admire Souness. He was brave enough to take it on, and so far, not walk away. If you don't ask Wenger or Ferguson, you will never get, or know. If they don't, then it is indeed time for Newcastle to go for another manager who has won the big leagues with the big clubs that matter. It has to be a man hungry for success, who can manage players, will work hard and give the club everything he can, and spend the clubs money well. This decision will be a crossroads for the club, we can decide to go back to where Keegan left us, or it will be nothing but a distant never to be forgotten memory.
8. subject to investigation, over a 7 year period !!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4193990.stm
9. Very well put. See my post about moving, passing, trying to dictate the pace of the game, same thing. Good teams with proper managers try to do this, but teams with people like Souness...
10. So obvious a point really, it's astounding it even needs debating. And yes, of course it's Shepherd [or the board as a whole] to blame. I can't see how Souness won't go soon, he can't possibly be kept on if we keep losing. And relegation would kill the club, we will be in the same situation as Leeds, we have players on contracts that can't be sustained, especially some who aren't worth it, and we have caused our own problems in the valuation of players in and out, due to a situation brought about by this manager.
11. Irrelevant. There is no bad time to appoint the right manager. Bobby Robson was the right manager at the time. Managers have always been sacked and replaced, at any time, it is only now because we have transfer windows the emphasis has changed. Managers are out there it's only that they will be stuck with the same players until January, whereas in the past they could bring in one or two instant fixes because quite often a new man can come in and see things clearly with a fresh focus on the problems.
12. 1. Free Live 2. Seconds Out - Genesis 3. Live and Dangerous - Thin Lizzy 4. Led Zep 4 5. Duke - Genesis 6. And Then There Were Three - Genesis 7. Aqualung - Jethro Tull 8. A Show of Hands - Rush 9. Live Bites - Scorpions 10.Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
13. If you don't try you don't get. 21149 The fans had lost faith in SBR. His results were terrible at the start of a new season....do you see where I'm going with this? Then to appease the fans they sacked him and realised, oh shit, no good manager is going to come in the MIDDLE OF A SEASON. It looks disorganised. So O'Leary, Bruce, McClaren, et al turn us down and we END UP WITH SOUNESS. In order to look like a club that even half knows what it's doing, a club should ride storms and regroup in the summers. SACKING SOUNESS NOW would just start the whole fucking sorry sequence again. The guy has spent big, let him stand and face the music, and if need be REPLACE HIM IN THE SUMMER WITH SOMEONE BETTER!!! 21166 yes, it wouldn't then be such a big step for a lower league manager to a championship club
14. If you don't try you don't get. 21149 Spot on. We should not bother with the likes of Souness, who has lived off winning the poxy Scottish title for all his managerial career. [no offence intended Scottish Mag!].
15. why not ? I'm not making judgements, but lacking heart is a serious flaw, of course you support the manager selling the player with the most desire and one of the biggest hearts at the club. You are so blinded by Souness's fuckwit lies propaganda you can't the nose in front of your face probably. Are you not still wittering on about giving Souness a chance ? If you have low expectations for this football, thats your problem. 21115 Try addressing the issue at hand instead of wittering on about Bellamy and Robert for once. Is it right to judge Luque on 90 minutes of Premiership football? You apparently think so, I don't. 21117 I'm not making a judgement. The best player I have ever seen play for Newcastle had a quiet debut. I do however think it's about time you got off your high horse and found it in yourself to admit that Souness is a shit manager, and one or two good signings won't change that. If you can't do that then that is pathetic. 21121 I'm not on a horse of any description. I'm discussing Luque's debut and whether it's right to condemn him following his debut. And I'm not the only one that's noticed that his harshest criticism is coming from those whose every post contains some reference to how shite Souness is, whether that is the topic at hand or not. 21125 I have edited the post after you replied. Anyway I don't give a shit if someone agrees with you. It's my opinion, but I'll give him a few more games. You said I was pathetic for disagreeing with you - pathetic - and I say you are pathetic for still not having it in you to admit you are wrong about the manager. 21133 I didn't say you were pathetic for disagreeing with me. I said it was pathetic to judge a player on his debut, especially when that judgement is heavily influenced by a dislike for the manager. 21135 I dislike Souness because is an arrogant bully who is destroying and bankrupting this football club, by underselling players who hurt his ego and needing millions to replace them because he's such a fuckwit. Period. 21140 Funnily enough I'd already got that message. I think you must have mentioned it before. 21143 Well, it's reasonable enough to despise someone for all of that eh .....

I don't want to say i told you so to anybody. I would far rather we were where we were when Keegan was at the club, but if you think a manager [or a player] is shit then why not say so, and thats because some of us expect or demand certain standards. If we finish half way in the league this season, are you, or those that agree with you, going to say Souness has been a success because he has "got rid of the bad eggs". Pathetic lowering of standards is what I say.

The best player I have ever seen play for Newcastle had a quiet debut, but you could still see he had talent and a heart. It is the first time I have seen Emre too and was hugely impressed as I said. Did you think Fumaca and Faye were crap after one game ? So what is wrong with making instant judgements sometimes ? I do however think it's about time you got off your high horse and found it in yourself to admit that Souness is a shit manager, and one or two good signings won't change that. 21. How much more money do you think Shepherd should back his manager with now ?
22. First impression was he started brightly, but later lacked heart. Bad sign. Oh well, thats 9.5m towards replacing Bellamy and Robert, if he doesn't do it then Shepherd is just going to have to bale out fuckwit again
23. We are creating next to nothing. Yes we have plenty of possession, but i feel thats due to an extra man in the middle of the park. How many saves did Lehman or Van der Sar have to make? 20942 said this for ages. It's all we did at Arsenal, make it difficult for the opposition. This isn't playing well, its a team on the back foot, and Souness will play like this in all away games whoever the opposition is. Playing well is getting the ball, passing, moving, keeping the ball, looking up, varying your game and being in control of what you are doing and attempting to dictate the pace of the game, not scrapping out a midfield slugging match and having one or two shots at goal. We are crap, and Souness is shit. Having said that, Emre is a gem of a player, which shows that even the biggest fuckwit can pull out an inspirational buy sometimes.
