  1. I think when we appointed Benitez I knew we were going to have to get used to "functional" football. After years of shite since Robson, I'm now happy just to see competence and practicality lead to modest success and possibly the holy grail of a cup. I think once we're stable (or as stable as we can be under Ashley) there'll be pressure on him to up the style factor. All assuming he stays of course.
  2. I get the impression its part of this "American dream" mythos - they believe if you work hard then you can become a millionaire - if you're poor its beacuse you don't work hard and therefore you're "unamerican" - therefore you don't deserve healthcare. Chuck in the "socialism" boogeyman and you have a toxic mix of thinking.
  3. Charlie fucking Nicholas calling somebody for diving. Fuck off.
  4. I presumed that if we go up we'll sell Murphy back to Ipswich or another similar club. Doesn't mean he doesn't have an important part to play for the rest of this season and he's doing better than Mitrovic at the moment.
  5. Tbf extrapolating HF's graph, it was everyone outside of NE1 that he had a problem with. Him moving to NE34 was amusing though.
  6. I think Shelvey deserves praise for playing more of a defensive game as part of the plan. Of course didn't stop him from making the second goal either. But apparently according to the co-commentating cunts that Mooy is the best midfielder in the league.
  7. I disagree - he was a disgrace at wolves but usually he's okay when we're playing anyone he hasn't played for. I'm not saying he's good but I don't think he's that biased. That Prutton's the worst for me.
  8. I read a bit of match thread from a Huddrersfield forum linked on N-O and apart from being hilariously clueless, I was struck by a few comments which I've read elsewhere that the refs are favouring us. I know I'm biased but I think the opposite with Fulham being the starting point and the nadir abviously being that cunt at Forest. Can ayone think of any games where we have been favoured in a game changing manner? - I rememeber bullshit whinges from Monk at Leeds and Lambert at Wolves but overall I think we've been fucked over quite a few times - and we're still fucking top.
  9. I love hearing defeated managers blaming the ref.
  10. I love how much these sky bastards want us to fail.
  11. This higginbotham cunt needs finding and chinning.
  12. Was always going to happen - Mackems play West Ham at home on the Saturday I think.
  13. I know they're in great form but the only time I've seen them was against Leeds when I thought they were outplayed until the last twenty minutes. Considering how many games they've won late on its obviously a thing they have going for them so hopefully we can get ahead and then cope better than other teams have.
  14. The head of the NSA lied through his teeth to Congress post Snowden and got away with an apology letter so I don't expect anything more for Sessions.
  15. Might suit us if they win - maybe not for Saturday but quarter final or more might distract their run-in.
  16. It is possible to think the media have done a successful hatchet job on Corbyn and think he's shit as well. I also think there's a lot of truth in stating that the working classes' disaffection with labour did start under Blair - as I've said before, despite achievements in education and the NHS, there's still a perceived failure in providing decent jobs in areas Thatcher destroyed.
  17. Great shout - I think Hughton might be worried they can't take the pressure again.
  18. Best goal in the history of football.
  19. 78/79 blah blah - change the fucking record - same shite as Saturday, cunt.
  20. Not the first time he's fucked us - can't do much when a ref just hates you. (Unless you're Ferguson).
  21. He's now said Obama is behind the leaks and protests. Certifiable or very clever at pandering to morons. Or both.
  22. Khan went a bit far but he has a point about Nationalism - I respect the scots sense of identity and the desire for self-determination but that form of "mild" nationalism isn't always the case - its only twenty or so years since a desire for the same kind of independence led to genocide in the Balkans - admittedly that was underscored by religion as well.
  23. Cynical as ever but after the furore last year about diversity, whoever sat down and said "Let's make a film about a black bloke who struggles with being gay" was a marketing genius. (I realise its based on a book). Not quite as high as my all time cynicism benchmark of somebody suggesting to Cliff Richard to put the Our Father to the tune of Auld Lang Syne and realease it around the MIllenium but not a bad effort.
  24. I never forget how complicit the BBC were over Orgreave.
