I've just got a pm off a member who will remain nameless....

Totally agree with you comments you dont tell us what his reply was.

My view on the rare occasions he graces us with hi presence he usually scores but i agree he is a smug arrogant little prick and the sooner he fucks off elsewhere the better.

Says it all really, the cunt is a mug and I would personally pay his helicopter fare to Anfield.

owen is a world class player playing in a team, that if we're all honest, isn't good enough for him.

This is just over the top now. Christ, man. I thought you had some sense. Have some pride in your team. What about Shearer? Were we not good enough for him? Owen means nothing to NUFC - nothing! - and if we lose him we'll lose nothing. What has he done in black and white?

Rename this thread to the Owen wankfest thread tbh.

Utter fucking mongs criticising Owen tbh

Agreed. It'll be fun when he leaves and we're back to scratching around for someone that can score regularly in the Premiership. We'll join all the other clubs in the "maybe this one will be the one" summer striker signing merry go round. Brilliant.

I reckon Owen would be a whole lot more appreciated by the fans if he'd maybe joined 2 years after Shearer retired. When we'd had to see what it was like putting up with fucking donkeys up front for a couple of seasons, and learned that you don't take players of his calibre for granted. Oh well, not to be.

Thought I'd stick this in here:

Owen gives all for club and country

Michael Owen has hit back at allegations he is more interested in playing for England than Newcastle, insisting he "bust a gut" for his club.

Owen has made a staggeringly quick return from a double hernia operation carried out by top German surgeon Ulrike Muschaweck, clearing him for Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia at Wembley when most pundits, including England coach Steve McClaren, felt he would not be fit.

The situation has only fuelled irritation among some Magpies followers about Owen's priorities, especially as Sam Allardyce has cautioned against the 27-year-old being too heavily involved in international combat over the next fortnight.

Even Owen's team-mate Joey Barton has felt the need to express an opinion, professing his loyalty to the north-east giants.

Although in his case, it is an easy claim to make as there is no imminent likelihood of the controversial former Manchester City star adding to his single cap.

Yet the whole debate has caught Owen completely off-guard.

Visibly angry as he addressed the issue at England's Watford base on Wednesday lunchtime, Owen feels the facts do not back up the criticism.

"If I was only interested in playing for England, I would not have bust a gut to get myself fit and be available for Newcastle's game with Everton last Sunday," he argued.

"I cannot fathom any of the debate that is going on.

"The injury is no longer. I flew to Munich on Thursday, had the operation on Friday and came back on the Saturday.

"I was walking on Sunday, jogging on Monday and did everything; sprints, blasting balls on Thursday. I trained with the team on Friday and Saturday and was available for Sunday.

"The specialist who carried out the operation in Munich has said exactly what happened and how long my recovery time would be.

"Yet, somewhere along the line, everyone seems to have gone the opposite way and started questioning the surgeon.

"I find it very strange that people question a specialist who has done thousands of operations before, who is saying you could be back in a matter of a few days. That is exactly what has happened."

Owen, whose double against Russia last month saw him become only the fourth player to score 40 goals for England, feels his club loyalty has been questioned virtually since the day he launched his international career with the famous wonder-goal against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup.

"It has been stirred up for quite a while, right back to my Liverpool days," he said.

"I scored for England in the World Cup at such an early age at a time when Liverpool were coming fourth and fifth in the league.

"My room-mate was Jamie Carragher, who is a Liverpool fan. All his family are Liverpool and Everton fans as well, so they are right in the thick of things within the city.

"I remember him saying that because I made my name with England, I would always be associated with them, that the fans would think I was England's player rather than Liverpool's until I won something with Liverpool.

"When we won the (2001 cup) treble, I definitely felt a warmth towards the fans but unfortunately that label has stuck with me right the way through my career."

Although a fractured metatarsal and a ruptured cruciate ligament have restricted Owen to just 17 starts since his £17million arrival from Real Madrid in August 2005, his nine goals, the latest of which effectively secured Newcastle three points against Everton on Sunday, emphasised his value to Allardyce.

Yet he still cannot understand why such a fuss is being made of his presence with the England squad when other player's international commitments are not being questioned at all.

"It was the manager's decision to put me on the bench on Sunday but I was definitely up for starting," he said.

"I look around for other examples and I see Shaun Wright-Phillips. He has missed a couple of games with a hamstring injury but he is fit for England. And I saw John Toshack talking about Craig Bellamy possibly being available for Wales' game next Wednesday. He has had the same injury as me but no-one seems to be mentioning that.

"I would play in any game; for Newcastle or England and I thought pushing myself to get back on Sunday the way I did would have dispelled any thoughts that I was just trying to get myself right for England."

And as for Barton, he said: "Obviously Joey has to get back in the Newcastle team and perform well.

"I am sure if he gets called up for England, he won't be saying that."

For a yank you narf talk sense.

Sonic The Hedgehog boy any of the admin will tell you I've had pm's agreeing with me. What annoys me is people won't say them for fear of ridicule, why? I mean even though it's an arrogant attitude to have I look down my nose at how clueless some of my fellow so called toon fans are, and this message board is certainly representative of that.

Christ, I really can't believe we're having this debate.

Some people go on as if he's making a blatant and concise effort to avoid playing for us. Owen has and will score goals where ever he goes. Yes, he's had injury problems but the majority of them have been freak incidents that very rarely happen. I do feel slightly aggrieved that he is going to play for England so soon after his comeback from injury but the Doctors know better than Stevie and acrossthepond.

The fact is that if we don't have Owen we'll end up having someone who probably costs just as much but is only half the player. He's world class and only the most blinkered fan wouldn't be able to see that.

EDIT - I also love the idea of Stevie getting some stealthy backslaps off other members ;) Frankly, i'm more inclined to believe that Baines is on his way up the A1 to sign for us than Stevie's inbox brimming with kudos.

Stevie, get help.

Get help? Why? Because someone who hasn't really got much to say in real life by all accounts, yet chips in with dull "quips" on a message board with approaching 21,000 posts in two years, thinks I'm wrong?

As I've said I'm not here to make friends, and I certainly don't pretend to be someone I'm not, I come here talk about the toon, and it saddens me how many clueless wanks there are in our support, it's becoming a majority, and it's tragic to see.

Stevie try to not take this as a attack (which you often do) but why when anyone has a different opinion from yourself do you have to resort to the same thing over and over again saying that the majority is clueless and calling them cunts and wankers. You have stated before that you are only expressing an opinion, yes of course which you are entitled too, but so are others. Chill out mate...

Get help because you've got a fucking enormous chip on your shoulder about anything and everyone that exists south of the River Tyne and north of Whitley Bay.

I've heard the rest of your speech before though. Every time you get your knickers in a twist on here we get the "you're all sad fuckas posting on here all the time" rant.

FOR PITY`S SAKE

Yes he bust a gut to get fit but if he expects us to believe it was so he could play for us in the Everton game YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING.

Why was Steve McLaren in the crowd because he fancied a day out in Newcastle BOLLOCKS.

Now if and i mean if Owen is dedicated to us he should have MISSED the England games he is NOT 100% fit. If he gets injured playing for England thats more months/ years wheen we will be paying him a fortune for sitting at home, playing golf , days out at Chester races etc.

Surely he has the intelligence to relise that he needs to prove himself as a Newcastle player if he gets injured playing for us then fair enough. Not saying he should never play for England again but he should sit these games out.

At 27 another serious injury will see him approaching 30 when he came to us he said i promise you goals well 10 in 2 years isnt enough.

On form he is a great player but how often have we seen that. 110k a week he needs to show us he warrants it NOW.
