Police were called at about 0230 GMT following a disturbance at a restaurant in Southport, Merseyside. The disturbance started in the restaurant car park when Gerrard returned to his car only to discover someone had stole his stereo and scratched 'the babies not yours' in to the paint work. Gerrard dived at the group of men (two footed) taking out one of them. Standing back up another of the group swung a punch at Gerrard but missed, Steve however went down on the floor anyway clutching his face. It is almost the anniversary of fellow Scouser, Joey Barton's Merseyside brawl that saw him spend three months at Her Majesty's pleasure. Should the Liverpool captain be convicted, it will be interesting to see how many of those calling for Newcastle to sack Barton will be equally vociferous in wanting Gerrard to be shown the door by the league leaders, ditched from the England set-up or even stripped of his MBE.
