Gemmill 52956
Is it about a princess? Has no one dipped their toe into Dope Thief yet? It's good stuff. Can't remember, might be on Apple+. We're back watching Reacher for some easy viewing. It's absolute horseshit but if I come with too much intense viewing it gets hard to convince my lass to fire up the next episode. It’s British (Holiday Grainger stars). Feels more like an ITV drama than anything Disney produced..

Kevin Carr's Gloves 4427
Diamond heist, the story of the millennium dome diamond robbery. 3 hours of thick cunts failing at everything they do and in the end you learn the diamonds were fake anyway.

Yeah I watched that the other day. I'd seen a different take on it some years ago when they revealed they'd switched the diamonds for fakes, but it wasn't from the angle of the bloke involved. Fairly decent watch.

Well thanks for spoiling the ending. That's what we all look for in the recommend me something to watch thread.

Howmanheyman 38183
Into the third episode of 'A state of happiness' on the iPlayer, set in Stavanger in the sixties when oil is kicking off with the yanks trying to muscle in. Enjoying it so far which is just as well as we've ran out of stuff to watch, (not that I think the missus is bothered as the subtitles when the Norwegians speak is putting her off I can tell).
Renton 24579
Watching a documentary called "Turning Point: The Vietnam War". I've always been shamefully ignorant of this conflict and period in US history, despite Paul Hardcastle. It covers the politics, the war itself, it's impact on society and civil rights. Clearly the US has always been fucked up. Edited 18 hours ago by Renton
wykikitoon 23931
We did the Vietnam war for History in school and its always been a subject that has fascinated me. It's still complex. I shall give that at go though.

Renton 24579
Probably, I've watched it in Netflix. While I'm here the latest series of Black Mirror is a return to form imo after 2 dud series. Also I'd say Netflix basic with adverts is the way to go, they are barely noticeable.

Not sure what month it was but I've a memory of that year playing subbuteo in the dining room with lampshades as floodlights and listening to the recently taped top ten featuring talking heads, fergal Sharkey, Jennifer rush, Madonna, Elton John and aha. It's funny what sticks.

It's funny what sticks. My eldest cousin in 1988 had a big Subbuteo set up with homemade floodlights my uncle made. We made up a league and all sorts. We would play whilst listening to games on the wireless. Great times.

I was thinking that when Wyki was talking about the Vietnam war at school. At his age I was learning about the Napoleonic wars and earlier. When did history get so recent? 🙁

I think you might be thinking of this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Vietnam_War_(TV_series) It was definitely shown in BBC4 and then I think it was on Netflix or Prime. Not sure where you can steam it now, possibly on YouTube though? Ken Burns has made some great documentary series. There was a one on Ernest Hemingway and another one on Muhammad Ali that were excellent. I’m only really into late 50s / early 60s Jazz (and even then only a little bit) but I even thought his series in the history of Jazz was well worth watching. There other ones like a series about Prohibition and the American civil war which were pretty epic. What really sets that Vietnam War one apart though is all the contemporary footage available due to the unprecedented access (not seen before or since) that journalists and filmmakers had. Absolutely superb is 100% spot on.
