Looking forward to Broccoli Head Jr.

Pleased to hear there have been some nice moments for you in a very shitty time.

My gran died a year ago, and my mam is taking the house, but it has sat for a year while they sell theirs etc. All of my gran's stuff still in it. Anyway, the time has come in the last month to clear it out, so she's been there with my sister, obviously an unpleasant thing to do, as you'll know. Loads of memories and their entire lives in cupboards and drawers.

Heartbreaking shit like taking their dressing gowns off the back of the bedroom door - my granddad had died a few years earlier, but my gran had never wanted to take his down.

Anyway, at the back of one of the cupboards was a bag with an old handbag in it, and a note that my Gran had written to remind her that my mam and her (long dead) brother had saved up for weeks to buy this for her when they were teenagers. My mam was in bits, but she also feels like it was her final gift from her mam that she obviously treasured this thing for 60 years, that my mam assumed would have been thrown out years ago.

A perm 😂

It's a shit emotional roller coaster time but I know when my mam and dad passed I still found lots of laughs happened in the week(s) too.

At my mams wake a bloke came up to me and was apologising for not getting down to Leeds earlier we got talking about mam and then onto football. My dad came over talked to him and he went to the bar for a drink. I asked who it was he said 'oh it's one of your uncles' 😂 oh right. Mam was 1 of 14 the mad catholic bastards 😂

I suppose it’s a nice change from tiddies and well, more tiddies.

Well no, it's not, but I'll let you off this time.

Also Fist Jnr informed me that he is booked in for a perm… (aye, a fucking perm !) on Thursday.

Are you sure he's not just bettering himself going to a poetry recital here?

Let the boy get his perm, I hope this isn’t disrespectful but I’m willing to bet your mum would find it funny that it winds you up.

It’s not at all, and she knew he was threatening me with it, which she thought was hilarious

If he wants to look like an 80s scouser, I’m not going to stop him.

I have told that if he regrets it after the fact, my clippers are oiled and ready

  • 5 months later...

My boy just absolutely smashed his GCSE’s including getting the 3rd highest maths score in the school (some of you will know that this is from his dad, not me)

One of his exams was on the day of my dad’s funeral so school were great and arranged for it to be done separately but he insisted he did the others with his mates and just got on with it. He did 28 exams in 5 weeks whilst I quietly fell to bits and was no use to him whatsoever.

I’m so proud of him and have cried since 10am. I now need to get some sleep before nightshift tonight so he has gone to his dad’s and they can roll their eyes at me being pathetic and over-dramatic.

I wish my dad was here ❤️

Must admit whilst driving around the country last week I had a lot of sympathy for truck drivers. I always think once you get passed Leeds and further south, motorway driving is horrific. Speeds in the slow lane down there are like speeds in the fast lane up here.

The fucking amount of concentration needed driving a big truck, especially the way they overtake and pull in so close.

No way I could do that.

99% of truck drivers are predictable- they’ll flash you in when you’re clear and, since you’ve overtaken them, you’re going faster ( even if it’s just 1-2mph), so you’ll always be moving away from them.

It’s the suicidal cunts in cars that you’ve got watch for.

This morning, just south of sunderland on the A19, some absolute whopper pulled in front of me, literally no more than 10ft between us, then immediately put his brakes on

How he didn’t become extra paint on my bumper I have no clue- I was pulling 42.5 tons and going at 56mph.

Idiots like this are the fucking whoppers that cause multi-vehicle pile ups, as I’m sure every car behind me frimmed themselves when I jammed the anchors on and started trailer snaking.

( Hint- the space in front of a truck might be “just big enough to squeeze in”, but it’s our stopping/slowing space.
Don’t pull in to it).

Aye, whilst covering all these Motorways my underlying thought was it just takes one other motorist to lose concentration or have a heart attack and it’s instant death

My next trip will probably be a saga holiday.

I'm driving long distances less and less and hating it more and more when I do. I've got cruise control on my car but when the fuck can you use it? Its constant 100% attention and you rarely can go at a constant speed on any major road. Perhaps I'll meet up with CT on my next Lochs and Glens holidays.
