Brilliant in the PL but not exactly top drawer in internationals as a scorer IMHO

Bit like Andy Cole - class foreign sides seem to be able to mop him up......

Think it'll be less about his class telling and more about him being physically exhausted. Long season and flogged through an injury by Man U in their title push. Most of his opponents will be much fresher.

Messi and Ronaldo are far better for their club sides than their national sides.

I think this world cup has some genuine world class players Rooney being one of them, having said that the true greats do the business at the World cups so we will have to wait and see which one grabs the tournament by the short and curlies!

on form throughout the season he's been the 3rd/4th best player in the world in my opinion. he's probably played too many games though. may well be knackered from a 50+ game season.

considering his scoring record, thats not bad for someone who's realistic best position is split striker or 2nd forward. nearly a 1 in 2 rate.

The PL has no more games than the likes of the French, Spanish and Italian leagues.

They do get a nice break in the middle though and normally only have one cup.
