Can someone send an ambulance round leazesMags, I think he's on his way to dying from smugness.

Tbf there'll be no one sicker about this than Leazes.

Get fucked man he'll be gloating about it for months.

"Are you learning yet lad".

He thinks Ashley fucking up makes Shepherd great, his very basic logic will conclude nothing else.

Notwithstanding whatever anyone thinks about Shepherd..........we are a selling club, and we do lack ambition. I think this transfer window proves that and I expect that most of the Carroll money will disappear into fatty's pocket.

Not really fair to say we are a selling club. 35m is crazy money.

More to the point we are not a buying club!

Phil, to my mind we're a selling club when we flog one of our best players to one of the "big boys" without any plans whatsoever to replace his goals. So we massively weaken our first team at the worst possible time simply because we get a great offer for him. I don't have a problem with selling him as everyone has their price and I agree it's crazy money....but not reinvesting straightaway in a top notch replacement says selling club to me.

Are you deluded? He got sold today with barely any time left. There was a lack of planning and being prepared for such a massive bid but no-one really expected it. Don't get me wrong, I hate Ashley but we will only be a selling club; if come the summer, we haven't spent nee-enough £40million (i.e reinvest the money). Until then, it is an unfair general statement to make.

I think it's deluded to suppose they haven't been planning to sell carroll for a while now. See Harry Redknapp's comments, which I believe.

Selling Carroll isn't the crime here, it's not bringing anyone in. Martins, Sturridge, Keane all loans that could have tied us over until the summer.

They need to state that every fucking penny from that deal goes on the squad in the next window if and potentialy a big if we are still in this league. Just hope Wigan and West Ham continue to be shit, got a feeling the hammers will go on a run tho

i still don't get why the fuck we weren't in for robbie keane.

Because he's slow, shit, probably expensive (wage-wise) and old, not to mention the club wasn't expecting a bid of the magnitude it took to get them to sell Carroll.

Redknapp seems to suggest that wasn't true.

I suspect they were expecting a bit for quite a while, probably encouraging it in fact.

Harry Redknapp confirms to Sky Sports News that Tottenham made a bid - that was accepted - for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam late in the day, but that the deal fell through because "a couple of Blackpool shareholders" just failed to get the necessary signatures on the paperwork in time. So near. So far. So Tottenham.

How the heck (and why the heck) are Tottenham able to buy so many midfielders and convince them that they'll have some important part to play. Didn't play out in this case, maybe Adam would have rejected the offer, who knows.

Would you really believe everything Arry says to be truth? Not sure I would.

whereas "we never expected him to leave and at the end of the day,we couldnt turn down that amount of money, we are shocked with the transfer request that and tried our best from then on ,we looked for replacements to ensure progression in the premier league but have so far been thwarted

Any why the fuck would they leave it until a couple of hours before the window closes before making a bid?

Fair point. Maybe trying to disguise the fact that Tottenham has been pretty quiet in this window.

That's what I'd expect from an allegedly dodgy, brown envelope loving, used car salesman, wheeler-dealing, saggy faced, Landan wanka... not that I'm saying that Arry of course.

Might have something to do with the fact he's been shite at least 2 year, and from Fatty's point of view there would be no reasonable resale value.

Naivity of epic proportions there like. Liverpool were organised enough to have a replacement lined up - why couldn't we have done the same? And don't give me this clap-trap that we only sold him 10 minutes before the window shut. It was pretty much accepted on here at lunchtime that he was going by which point the club would have known for some time.

More than enough opportunity to re-invest but as I said last night, Ashley is on a quest to cancel out that £100m he leant the club to cover the losses he would have found out about if he'd done due dilligence.

We're suffering because he failed the most basic of all business tasks. I hold the Halls partly responsible too.

Wages. He'd have laughed at whatever paltry sum would have been offered.

The club made their mind up at half 2 when they cancelled the presser. We then started bidding at half 10.

And that's precisely why every purchase has been for an undisclosed fee. So Ashley can bury the amounts in the books and doesn't have to stand to account when sales don't get re-invested because no-one is actually sure how much he has spent and recouped. Stinks to high heaven.

I still believe the decision to sell was made weeks ago, a deal with Spurs all but signed then Liverpool came in and started waving their dole money about which couldnt be ignored.

Maybe, but going on what we actually know from yesterday, there was an 8 hour window where we did nothing to replace him.

The whole "injury" and swedish specialist crap stank to high heaven.

Easy to say with hindsight, but still.

So stripping it all away lets not blow smoke up his arse about there being some fundamental truth in what he's saying which has somehow flawed everyone else's comprehension levels. All he's basically saying and all he has ever really said is that he wants us to spend at least as much if not more as the club that's spending the most money. Short of that he simply won't be happy.

I disagree.

I believe LM says the same as I do, that you cant compete at any level unless you populate your team with players of the quality required. That cannot be done at the highest level based on loans and lower league "prospects" you have to have some level of balance between new exciting young prospects and experienced top level players. If you want to break into Europe then you have to speculate to accumulate.

I dont know for definite if LM thinks we should break the bank, I know I dont think that we should but I do believe that a club of our size and potential income should be able to go out and spend £10m on a player if they're the cog we need to pull it together.

What is also true is that if you do not compete at the level then you cannot hold onto your Carrolls, Ben Arfas, Tiotes and the like. Sooner or later they'll have their heads turned by the prospect of Champions League, Premiership winners medals, FA Cups etc

Overall I believe that is what Leazes is saying and I agree.

For the record, if we get through tomorrow and havent sold any of our main players and bring in another couple of faces be they on loan or whatever then I will be happy.

just found this. Spot on really.
