“It’s always a bit of a bumpy road if you change,” said Slot after his team’s defeat to Brentford. “That is not so surprising. But four (league) losses in a row?”

"Teams seem have a certain playing style against us, which is a very good strategy to play, and we haven't found an answer yet."

"You cannot even compete, which we don't do at the moment, because we simply concede too many goals."

"It definitely also has to do with if you change quite a lot during the summer, then I think it's not a surprise that it can go a bit like this. But I didn't expect it to go with four losses in a row, let that be clear."

He speaks like he’s the only manager ever to face an opponent who has a gameplan to beat him. He’s describing the situation faced by every single professional football manager.

Seems like first season he got away with it but he’s been figured out. First by Howe in the League Cup final and now by everyone else six months later.

He’s bought into the Liverpool culture quicker than I expected. Someone must have fast tracked his victim card.

Why won’t anyone just roll over and have their bellies tickled? Don’t they know it’s Liverpool? They deserve things. Nice things. It’s not fair. Why won’t these small clubs let Liverpool win?

I don’t think he would but he’ll be in the firing the line.

they’ve been shite since the back end of last season. Every game I watched at the start of the season, they somehow managed to win whilst playing shite.

its beautiful.

Spoke to the dipper gaffer yesterday and couldnt stop smiling at him whilst talking football

He said if that Van Dijk tackle that give away the pen happened in the middle of the box it wouldn't have been given.  But because it was out the box they gave it.  Which I said thats the problem.  The refs give so many fouls etc outside the box, but then shit their pants in the box.  If its a FK outside the box, its a FK in the box.

Or the only manager to have to integrate new players at the start of a season

It’s something he absolutely chose to do as well.

He should ask Eddie Howe how he managed it halfway through a season and with a team in the relegation zone.

And Eddie should respond what the fuck you asking me for, you're the big club boy, you baldie cunt.

First game of the season and we started one new signing and had three on the bench. In the past we’ve got frustrated at Howe not throwing new signings in straightaway but there’s clearly a method behind it. Slot meanwhile started all four of his new signings despite not having to plus he had the luxury of being the reigning league champions.

Wenger always said you should only add 2-3 players per season.

Obviously that’s down to circumstance, but Liverpool didn’t need to do this. Especially the signings of Isak and Ekitike.

Slot is like a classic 'Championship Manager/Football Manager' bellend - spend money like it's going out of fashion and hoping it all sticks.

The 'coaching' is absolutely dogshit.

And he's hiding behind the fact they won the league last year. It's meaningless as it was with an inherited squad.

I honestly think that the signing of Isak was about saving face. Ekitike had already scored three in three for them and was looking the real deal. Isak was definitely not essential to them but because it had become the saga of the summer I think they thought it would appear weak not to sign him.

I see a lot of people saying this but I completely disagree. He took Klopp’s squad and undoubtedly got more out of it than Klopp was getting so I’ll give him credit for that. I’ll also acknowledge that the players signed this summer were most likely not identified by him but where he does come in for criticism is that he has absolutely made a championship winning side less competitive this season.

That was their aim IMO. It was less about strengthening themselves and more about weakening a perceived threat.

One of those agree to disagree moments then. I'm still of the view Man City completely shit the bed else we'd have seen repeat of 23/24. Arsenal should have been there to pick up the pieces but they choked. Liverpool did instead.

They knew Trent was on his way and it's largely suggested they knew Diaz wasn't hanging around and he didn't at all rate Nunez. With that landscape as the backdrop they went all out to ensure VVD & Salah stayed on - not because they were wise footballing decisions, but to appease their fanbase. He's been instrumental in those decisions and, if he hasn't, then he's exposing weakness as a result.

He's the Emporer's New Clothes for me.

Slott did two fairly simple things last season:

1. Carrot/stick Salah for a new contract. I think we're seeing the results of that this season.

2. Change Gravenbach's position

That acheived the consistency required to win the title when as mentioned all others faltered.
