So you as a season ticket holder having been to all the earlier cup games would be happy to miss out on a semi final or final ticket if your ticket has gone,as another freebie,to a current employee or past employee of NUFC ? Maybe you have never missed out on a ticket for an important game.

If you were in that position, what would you do if you could get a ticket via a member of staff? ;)

As the old adage goes, "turnover is vanity, profit is sanity, cash is reality". If we're more profitable by outsourcing our catering and club shop operations then I'm all for it but we don't have any figures for how much revenue those areas accounted for.

What do you think of Mike Ashley?

And now to the man who actually owns the club.

Will we see more of Ashley at games? Is he going to spend more money? Is he considering selling up?

We would ask him these important questions but, well, you know.

His votes went down like this; Great (2.41 %), Good (18.01 %), Average (34.47 %), Poor (22.08 %), Awful (23.03 %).

These are actually his worst figures for a while.

So over half our support think that he isn't doing a bad job.

We believe the SFA have been approached to find out what would be required to give clearance for this, due to Mr Ashleys ownership of Newcastle United.

We would question the wisdom of approaching someone who, despite his obvious wealth, cannot significantly invest in the club without removing himself from his ownership position at Newcastle.

We are also concerned that, under Uefa regulations on dual ownership of clubs, Mr Ashley cannot have a decisive influence over decision-making at Rangers without it leading to the possibility of us not being able to compete in European competition.

He could find himself holding around 20 per cent of the shares in our club, having control of all club merchandise and being the largest single shareholder if he underwrites this share issue.

Will the board clear this unequivocally, and in advance, with Uefa to ensure that Rangers will not miss out on European football in the future because of Mr Ashleys ownership of Newcastle?

Finally, Mr Ashleys initial purchase of shares in Rangers appears to have been linked to his Sports Direct merchandise deal. The only man inside Rangers who liked that deal at the time it was put in place was (former chief executive) Charles Green.

We hope that any possible assistance given to the board by Mr Ashley at this time will not see him clinch another favourable deal, perhaps to rename Ibrox at a knock-down price.

Isn't dual ownership only against UEFA rules if both teams are in European competition? They've nothing to worry about from us there.

I reckon if it ever looked like being an issue he would just block us getting there in some way. Rangers would require much less investment to get into Europe and win the league than we would. Therefore it makes sense for him keep us as his Sports Direct bitch in this country and rake in the Europe cash from Rangers.

Ashley can not do both from Day 1. If he wants to buy a controlling share in Rangers he must sell Newcastle. No ifs or buts. UEFA rules.

Where's this? I can't find anything that states it in such absolute terms?

Also, this is the sport where last night Barcelona (who were banned from signing players) brought on their new signings including Suarez (who was banned from taking part in any football related activities) and then played a friendly.

If it's in their interests, they'll allow anything.

Someone should tell the people who own Watford and Udinese

The major reason is the possibility of two clubs meeting in a UEFA competition, with the obvious consequences. If Ashley owned both there is a possibility that they could be drawn against each other in say the Europa Cup. There is minimal chance of the four clubs that have been named ever meeting in a UEFA competition.

What you're saying is wrong though. There is no UEFA rule against dual ownership, only that both teams cannot play in European competition together.

[/quote) So based on what you say Ashley controls both clubs in say 2016. In 2017 both clubs qualify for the UEFA Cup. So what happens? Or you could have a situation where Newcastle 'loan' a number of good players to Rangers, who then go on to win the SPL. What happens then? Chelsea have caused problems already. They loaned a large number of excellent young players to Vitesse Arnhem who then went on to qualify for the Europa League. Other Dutch clubs have raised questions with UEFA about it not being a level playing field.
