There's definitely enough people who "remember" Dishy Rishi as the man who gave them a discount on their meals out in restaurants, looking like sour-faced miseries while surrounded by other people looking like sour-faced miseries but all definitely having a good time, that he's a danger. I'm Team Truss too. Bring on the leader who would only pass the Turing Test on a very good day.

Totally. He's got something he can point to and win people over. "I'm the lad that kept you afloat when your business couldn't operate" etc. He spent at least some time looking like the competent good lad. Truss has nothing.

Whoever gets it is gonna cunt things up for normal people. These people are not right. I don't want Sunak because I don't want some slick fuck who can convince people he's the answer (as he's picking their pocket) just enough to win another election.

We'd be getting on for 20 years if they win again. It can't happen, we just need the one most likely to lose an election. And that's clearly loopy Liz.

Stop being a bedwetter man. The tories will not win the next GE, they have no fucking chance. The only question now is how much of a country there will be left for Starmer to inherit. These latest figures are scary.

YOU of ALL PEOPLE are not allowed to call ME a bedwetter.

I'm old enough to remember the confidence vote when you thought Johnson would be here til the next election. I think you even said he'd win it.

But the catch is, if he is going to fiscally responsible, people will be fucked financially over the next year. What will people remember, a cheap meal 4 years previously or freezinf and starving in winter 2022? Whereas Truss will bribe people with tax cuts but fuck ther long-term economy permanently. She's too incompetent for 2 years in charge.

He did win the confidence vote. And this was before Pinchergate. Truss will be as bad as this cunt for the country.

Minus any of the weird appeal he has with the electorate. This is music to my ears.

There's some people genuinely think there'll be another leadership contest BEFORE the next election if lobotomy Liz wins.

This is it for me.

Wanting Truss to win on the grounds she's got less chance of beating Labour is akin to CT's bed-wetting about Burnley needing to lose games against teams around us simply because he wanted them to get relegated as early as possible.

I have confidence in Labour beating either of these two dickheads which means I want the best option for us for the next 2 years - that's Sunak for me. If we were closer to a GE I might think differently, but we're not. Truss would be an unmitigated disaster and we'd be even more fucked than we are now.

I listened to Truss this morning and it was jaw dropping.

The only thing she's ever got right in her life was saying Brexit would be economically damaging, and now she's been proved right she's claiming she made a mistake.

Bring it on, we need a paradigm shift, she could be yhe one to unwittingly bring it.

That oily cunt Sunak could well convince enough idiots to win an election

I wouldn't rule it out. It sounds like Johnson wants to make a comeback. He'll want to do that as PM rather than spending five years in opposition.

Truss would definitely be the more amusing option. I just wish I was better insulated from this though, I wish we all were. We will have to live with real consequences.

You're saying you have confidence in the electorate. Not Labour. Which is plainly idiotic after everything that's happened since 2016.

This is the thing. The more we tie our colours to the "Tories will fuck this up and leave an open goal for Labour" mast, the more we need them to absolutely fuck this up - as they inevitably will if we give them the chance to, because we actually live in a fundamentally soft-socialist country, even if that voter base has been told they're actually conservative for such a long time and they love voting that way because it makes them feel a part of something. That's what, as an exception in the political continuum, Third Way Blairism got so right (and it's notable just how well the Lib Dems did at that time, too - the potential for a broad "centre and left" consensus has always been there, you just need the grounds to be fertile enough for that to happen in the first place).

Now? Now those voters are used to being wooed by the hard-right narrative, because we really don't want to believe that other people deserve the same opportunities as us once they've been reinforced. But ultimately I do think and hope we can see some reversion as long as the Tory alternative is so clearly insane that it can't be outweighed even by the personal prosperity narrative. That's exactly the point we're at now, whether people (and therefore the polls) realise it - but the grim fact is that we do need things to get (even) worse before people will tip over to the other side in sufficient numbers to allow a regime change.

And that's why I'm Team Truss. :ithankyou:

When I was awaiting my eye surgery last week, the bloke in the next individual day ward was talking to the nurse about how "Boris" had been stabbed in the back and how it was terrible as he'd done a great job. Also Starmer's curry thing was "exactly the same thing" as all of the Downing Street parties and he was therefore untrustworthy.

Thankfully judging by his medical conditions, eye aside, the cunt will be dead before the next election but still...

Great post and I fully understand both sides of the argument with splinters in my buttocks from fence sitting. Ultimately I guess I have no agency whatsoever anyway and que sera etc. I would add that Labour are 12 points ahead in the polls though and honestly, I don't see this changing much.

Oh aye, I agreed that deciding between then is like having to choose which bollock you'd prefer having impaled with a skewer.

With respect to having confidence in the electorate to do the right thing, I do. There are two things that were on the ballot paper in 2019 which aren't there now - delivery of Brexit and Jeremy Corbyn - both of which significantly contributed to the majority that Johnson won.

More importantly, the third thing is cost of living. People always vote with their pockets.

Imagine telling a fucking NURSE about how Johnson has been stabbed in the back.

Honestly I'd also prefer Truss. The more painful and terrifying a situation this country ends up in, the better for all of us in the long term. There's too much risk of things moving too slowly under Sunak to be noticeable.

It was a private hospital, she mainly agreed with him.
