Monkeys Fist 46954 Posted Sunday at 11:58 Share Posted Sunday at 11:58 Aye, I’m sure you could have done without that diagnosis. Was it something you were aware of or did it come totally out of the blue?

Was it something you were aware of or did it come totally out of the blue? Had extreme versions of déjà vu since around 2022 I think, now and then, maybe once every few weeks sometimes longer sometimes shorter, lasts around 30 seconds to a minute, very hard to explain tbh but nothing like normal déjà vu which everybody has. After the first few times when I thought I was going mental I actually recognised there might be something wrong and when I knew it was happening would almost study it myself. I eventually told the missus but left it at that. I saw a GP around January in case it was a prelude to dementia or something so he referred me to neurology which I went to on Friday. From the conversation he said it could be a temporal lobe epilepsy so has booked me in for the MRI and an ECG. I'm perfectly fine when it happens, am aware of it and even tell the wife and kids when it's happening. They say I just stare at them or the TV amazed and almost laughing as I'm at that moment listening to what's being said and 'know' what's going to be said. It's very weird. I mean, I always knew I was a sandwich short of a picnic but wasn't expecting this! 1

Renton 24786 Posted Sunday at 14:58 Share Posted Sunday at 14:58 @Howmanheyman, seriously, sounds weird. At keast you have an explanation now I guess and it also sounds like there is treatment available.

Howmanheyman 38526 Posted Sunday at 15:31 Share Posted Sunday at 15:31 Cheers lads, it may be something else or I may actually be psychic so could have an alternative living if they're looking for a Derek Acorah replacement?

Rayvin 6620 Posted Sunday at 17:40 Share Posted Sunday at 17:40 @Howmanheyman Sorry to hear of this mate but glad that you're in consultations and so on about it. Well done for taking that step because sometimes people sit on things like this. Sounds kinda manageable at least, hope things improve nonetheless though.

They already had Nic Cage playing you in a film about this 20 years ago tbh so hopefully you’ve suffered enough already. It was either called knowing or next and I’m sure both films were more or less the same and equally terrible
Dr Gloom 24493 Posted Sunday at 19:50 Share Posted Sunday at 19:50 echo what others have said @Howmanheyman - what a shit hand. hopefully it's something that can be managed and isn't too disruptive. on the bright side, it sounds like your seizures, if that's what they are, are on the less extreme end of the scale.

If it truly is psychic super-powers, don't let them medicate it out of you until you've helped me uncover the identity of Zowie Fenderblast. People have to know! More seriously, look after yourself man! You'll be driving again before you know it. I used to work for a guy (who incidentally married into my extended family) has what sounds like a far more extreme form of epilepsy and still is able to drive on the daily. Make the most of the break from driving responsibilities. There's a lot to be said for Uber, home deliveries and pints at lunchtime. And while Uber and delivery drivers are clearly being exploited, you conscience is clean because it's just a temporary measure and those fuckers can still drive.
Ayatollah Hermione 15380 Posted yesterday at 13:23 Share Posted yesterday at 13:23 @Howmanheyman That all sounds exactly like what my mate had and it was focal seizures due to epilepsy. Needed some pretty strong medication but he could manage it for a while. He did need brain surgery, like but he was awake throughout and was back out of hospital the next day so if you’re not a fanny, you’ll be fine

I've an MRI in two weeks but the doctor said they might not find anything at all so I don't know what they do in that circumstance other than put it down to my extraordinary mental faculties and count it as a heavenly blessing. Naa... You'll definitely have to have it because I've bought the domain www.daveythewalkervillewizard.com in preparation for the live show to follow, it'll be a bit like a male Mystic Meg playing the clerbs, you'll be dressed like Gandalf and basically doing Derek Achorah's act with a football quiz & bingo thrown in. Contract being finalized today, it'll be emailed out to you for signing tomorrow 👍
