Aye, saying they provide "336" contracts. Which is a 336 hour annual contract for a factory which is open 365 days a year. Once you've worked your 336 hours, you're effectively on a zero hours contract for the rest of the year.

These prepaid debit cards that people are required to receive their pay on.

They pay a £10 per month management fee to have the card. SD is charged £2 per month by the company that administers the cards. So SD charges it's employees £8 a month just to get paid. Who could begrudge Mike Ashley a massive heart attack?

Would appear this might actually go to the employment agencies.

Never heard of this debit card thing, but sub contractors working through agencies have had to pay a company to "process" their wages for the best part of two decades. Can't claim the 15-25 quid a week back as expenses neither. I think the overall term for this bullshit is "casualisation"...

[emoji38] This agency has sent the office junior. "Say that again, sorry". A look of utter fucking confusion on his face when someone raises the subject of worker's rights.

This bloke is mint. They are floundering and just saying words in response to his questions. People behind them sat shaking their heads in incredulity.

And yet fuck all will happen as a result, I would guess.

According to the Guardian, the lass from Transline has just lied in her claim that they voluntarily withdrew from their Gangmasters licence application. The truth is that they failed the fit and proper persons test.

She's a finance director, so presumably a chartered accountant. Hopefully there's some censure involved for lying on public record.
