Precedent Trump

Besides, "go back to where you came from" is one of the laziest and most hackneyed lines of attack there is. We already knew the man has no creativity or intellectual curiosity about him, but he's not even very interesting at being a racist.

Bloke's an absolute cunt and very, very boring but they lap it up across the pond.

Ve don't vant him back.

His mother was Scottish. Surely having the same skin tone as the colour of Irn Bru was a giveaway.

I was challenged on this earlier and it does actually turn out that children in cages was an Obama initiative...

I find this possibly more alarming than if it had been Trump.

He didn't introduce family seperation though and i certainly don't recall the level of inhumanity that goes on now, against a backdrop of facist racist rhetoric that Goebbles would be proud of. To try and imply equivalence of Trump and Obama, or Clinton even, is stupid and insulting.

It's not so much equivalence as a demonstration that the current state of US affairs wasn't exactly positive pre-Trump, and that there was an awful lot less (none) outcry about it.

He's going to win a second term IMO. There is little evidence so far that the Democrats understand why they lost last time...

Unfortunately, that is probably correct.  Very unusual for a sitting President to lose next time round.

I don't think anyone's under any illusions when it comes to America having always done bad things. Acknowledging that isn't mutually exclusive with acknowledging the shift in magnitude we're experiencing right now.

Weaponising the immigration issue is nothing new. Look at the Saj sending the Navy into the Channel after a few dark looking folks turned up on a dinghy.

I genuinely believe that if he had her on that stage with a gun to her head the crowd would have chanted 'Do it! Do it! Do it!'.

He is now saying he did not like it, but if that were the case, he had ample opportunity to put it right there and then.  Given they were simply echoing his message, I find it astounding that anyone would take his later comments at face value.

No doubt Chuck Schumer, Lindsay Graham and the GOP will accept it as the excuse for keeping on supporting him as the only option for the party in 2020, now that they no longer have to take him to task on racism (or the "R" word for those too sensitive).
