The benevolence fund is a good shout - but it needs the likes of established PL clubs to offset a token amount into it. Morecambe are 10 miles from where my Dad lives. It's worth a listen for how appallingly Man United and Chelsea behaved with this 17/18 year old kid. The way I remember the reporting at the time, it was him and his agent that were the villains, but not if you hear what actually happened.
