If we do sign Pedro Brighton must really want shot after the training ground incident, so I can't imagine the fee would be that high. They're not in any sort of PSR pickle so don't need to eek out every pound on outgoing players. He's definitely an Eddie Howe sort of player, tall, strong and reasonably athletic. It would surely also be the end of any kind of contract option for Wilson?

I still think Elanga would be a better addition to our team. Pedro playing out wide just looks like a forward in an unnatural position to me, whereas Elanga is a natural wide player who can also operate and be dangerous through the middle because of his pace and ability with both feet.

Hope, I think, suggested it might be Elanga and Joao Pedro

I'd be happy with that!

Pretty sure that's the blueprint Eddie's following this year - "What would make Wykiki happy so he doesn't call me a cunt and continues to let Wilson plug his Mrs and stay away from the training ground?"

joao pedro would also point to potentially changing our system, or at least having a plan b, as he's more of a number 10 than a centre forward, though he can play as a nine too - or out wide if needed. howe has spoken about how he likes players with versility so i can see why he likes him - isak could thrive with him playing in behind him, and elanga out wide would add more blistering pace with gordon on the other side.

another braziian and a swede to add to the mix/squad harmony. both deals make sense if the price is right. but surely both selling clubs are going to be looking for around £50m. it's the going rate these days.

the only question regarding pedro is the no dickheads policy. the brighton manager wants rid because of a training ground incident. but then we all thought gordon was a bellend before he signed and he turned out alright, so if eddie fancies him you have to trust him.

Why would this even be a consideration though? A lad who has been an integral part of a successful season, to a team that are obvious rivals?

There were rumours in January that Mitchell had cheaper European options lined up after the Guehi deal didn't go through, but Howe only had one player on his shortlist.

Makes you wonder whether Mitchell leaving is because Howe had Mbuemo, Huijsen, Delap, Pedro, Elanga, Guehi and Trafford on his list this Summer rather than the cheaper players from European leagues on Mitchell's list...

It's good to be in a good situation financially to tell them to cough up or fuck off.

yeah, if they want to pay over the odds we would have to consider it to help us out with psr. Every player has a price because of the bullshit regulations. It would be annoying though as we’d have to replace one of the best and most versatile fullbacks in the country on top of all the other positions we need filling. I hope it doesn’t happen. They can come back if they’ve got £90m to spend

I hope this is bullshit re Tino. Hes been immense for us, and is outatanding in both fullback positions. Weakens us and strengthens City.

Unfortunate that PSR mandates that we always have to be open to selling players. It's just a matter of price.

Tino and Hall are amongst the most important players to keep though. Hopefully selling Longstaff, Willock and Targett is enough for us to cover off any PSR concerns in the medium term. I'd hate for us to turn the likes of City and Liverpool away this window only to have them come back in the future when/if our finances are not so great.

Strikes me that "cheaper players from the European leagues" nowadays often have better options or the clubs they join just have more financial clout... Kushanov in January is just the latest one. Tosin. Etikike. There's one thing saying it but going out and actually signing these players is fucking hard for a club such as ourselves as Mitchell no doubt realised after he'd done all the work in January on a player who would've fitted us very well.

So this narrative about Howe has come about based on mostly bullshit internet rumours and am not sure why anyone would repeat it tbh.. Howe won a cup and got in the champions league after a summer  transfer window that even I described as a fuckin disaster. That's the principle reason Mitchell left; he didn't have any significant power at the club to mould it into his vision for how we should operate. This is to all intents and purposes is now Eddie Howe's football club, he now has nearly as much power as he had at Bournemouth. I'm fuckin delighted with that. Others feel differently, that's fine too, but I think if they feel like that they're letting the perfect be the enemy of the very, very good..

Its some stretch to blame our outgoing DoF for another team wanting to buy one of our players
