Probably means they don’t have to sell Sememyo now. Or they’ll just extract £90m from Chelsea when they inevitably come calling

I get some of these names were probably just paper talk, but Trafford, Guehi, Delap, Cunha and Mbuemo were linked for so long by so many different journalists you can only assume they were genuinely on Howe's wanted list.

He chooses his words carefully when speaking to the media so Howe's comments that we need "speed" in this transfer window were said with purpose, because he knew other clubs were hovering around his targets and were ready to bid early.

To be 3 weeks in and see £700m spent on (amongst others)

- Frimpong, Kerkez and Wirtz to Liverpool

- Reijnders, Cherki and Ait Nouri to City

- Cunha and (almost) Mbuemo to Man U

- Delap, Estevao, Essugo, Paez and Sarr to Chelsea

- Tel and a couple of others to Spurs

- Zubimendi to Arsenal

While our announcements include exciting news that Mitchell is leaving after less than a year, we are 3 years into scoping out a new training ground we are still no closer to making a decision on a new ground.

Let's make final judgement at the end of the window, but it's been a fucking anti-climactic start after what was one of the best seasons in our history. The likes of Isak, Bruno and Tonali won't be hanging around much longer if Willock, Wilson, Targett and Longstaff are still getting minutes next season.

Anyone believing that it would be a Hot Mitch Summer should remember who made this prediction.

Also a big shout out to the posters who questioned the “Lads, we have people in charge that know what they are doing” rhetoric.

I think Mitchell probably was a good appointment on paper. His recruitment record is impressive and he had been doing a massive job, basically running the technical side of the entire red bull operation (what Klopp is doing now).

But for whatever reason, it didn’t work. None of us know exactly what went on but it feels like Howe, his nephew and Nickson are now calling the shots on recruitment. The club need to back them after three austerity transfer windows. Surely they will. Can’t expect Howe to work miracles every season

It does feel like those at the top of the club appear to just be treading water. No major transfers in ages, no movement on a new stadium or training ground. Eddie Howe is the man holding it all together. The sooner we get a new CEO in the better.
