Never heard of them.

It wouldn't entirely surprise me if they happened to be completely made up considering the strong mackem influence of the guardians NE football division

I think it's probably a good thing that we didn't pull off the win at Arsenal and possibly finish second.

Partly cos of the fucking idiots we've got on social media who would have felt that anything less than 2nd or going one better next season would be a failure. And partly cos it sends the right message to the ownership that we only just squeaked in to CL on GD.

They need to know that massive investment is needed cos Howe and his team's brilliance can only get us so far.

Running on fumes for the run in, won only  two from the last 6 including losing the last two. These lads are all now mostly fuckin spent. Overall they’ve been fuckin superb since Christmas though. This would’ve been an average season for Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea at most points in the last 20 years. I fuckin hope that as a fanbase we don’t become as entitled as those wankers but as you say, when you look at some of the comments online it’s already happening :glare:

The amount of people wanting rid of Howe before Xmas, man.

Howe didn't confirm that it was the end for Wilson in the press conference btw. You'd assume it is, and clearly Wilson thinks it is, but Howe says we need to sit down with Callum and discuss it, so who knows. Might just be Howe being a canny lad but it's also not that canny to give the player false hope if you know you have zero intention of keeping him.

Howe might be happy to keep him on as 3rd/4th choice whereas Wilson will want to be top dog, or at least guaranteed minutes. Hence the need for a discussion.

H: You’re going to be 4th choice next season, okay?

W: Um… nah fam, there’s still life left in this old dog, ask Wykiki’s mrs.
H: I’ll get Mad Dog to confirm, but you still won’t be starting.
W: I’m out then bruv

Dubravka was crying in front of the fans not so long ago and he’s still here.

My money is on Wilson playing for Leeds next season like if he’s staying in the premier league, or making his return to Coventry if he doesn’t.

A slightly informed guess suggests Wilson to Southampton FC. Word has it he’s kept his house in Poole and if he can stay fit for 6 months out of 8 he’ll maybe get enough goals so they might stand a chance of going straight back up. Or maybe a slightly more romantic return to Coventry?  Suppose any of the promoted teams might be interested in taking him too…

We have a one year option on Wilson's contract which we're not activating, instead offering him more of a pay as you play type deal. I suppose he'll want to see what other offers are on the table before deciding.

That makes sense with what Howe was saying. Trade off of 1 year in the CL/upper end of the PL on a party as you play vs another 2+ years of guaranteed income down the league.

2+ year contracts for Wilson would have to have myriad conditions to trigger additional year(s) surely. You'd think he'd be better off staying here for another year getting that 50th goal (even if it's from the penalty spot) playing in cup games slowly building his fitness and confidence. If he does well enough doing that he'd get a year elsewhere in the Championship or as a sub in lower prem, and if he doesn't then he'd know it's the end. Tough decision for him.

Problem with thinking of Wilson as a cup striker or whatever is that you can't rely on him to be fit for the cups, he doesn't need matches to break down, he does it in training all the time etc.

Then if hes training at a level to stop himself getting injure, he's not training at a level where he's good enough to play for us imo and it's time for him to head off.

Agreed. He can’t be relied on to be fit. And when he is simply trying to stay fit to play (as in recent months to put himself in the shop window) his match performances are much worse.

Wilson has been a great player for us. But I’d like his spot in the squad to go to a developing player. Osula as the first option even though he’s looked better at RW. If we still have Wilson next year it’ll likely indicate we either couldn’t afford to replace him or don’t think Osula is worth the investment of time/playing opportunities. So, for those reasons and his crappy fitness record and recent lacklustre performances, I hope he moves on.

He needs to go. He's been 'fit' for weeks yet whenever he's been on the pitch we might as well play with 10 men. He's finished. Stephen Hawkin had better legs.
