Prediction

Sesko still won't have come for a medical to the UK by Thursday and we still won't have bought anyone for the first team.

We bought someone for the first team on the 11th of July

You're really going out on a limb here.

I think it was KD said the next 24/48h are critical. I agree tbh. We will not doubt still be fucking about with it well into next weekend and Wissa won't be any closer either.

Thank you Private Fraser.

I predict we won’t sign anyone (for the first team or the women’s first team, gotta cover all caveats in case you bastards think you’re gonna steal my well-deserved gravitas so easily from me when this prediction comes through and I look like some sort of football savant, and and not including staff signings or like new tea ladies or anything like that you cheeky shits so don’t even think about it), I predict no one gets signed until Friday … morning.

Also, the players we’ve already signed don’t count. It only counts starting now. Wait. … Just had to watch Craig Hope’s newest video in case I could include a clever pun on his name and how hopeless we are at making signings. My prediction also doesn’t include Wissa if he signs before Friday.

Starting now.

We will definitely sign players but it’s got to the point where we may have to throw caution to the wind and get players in that don’t fit in some way.

We are absolutely bare bones for a CL campaign.

We still need two forwards, a CB and a CM.

Hard to see us getting all that done in the remaining month of the window given the glacial progress so far

CB and FWD are fucking desperate man. We cannot go into the new season with no new CB.

i know but what choice do we have? The window has been a car crash

I'm the same as you. We need some bodies in but Eddie wants parameters xyz ticking. If y is missing then it's a no.

Agreed. But there is no way we can flog the first XI this season. We’ll end up mid table.

Central midfield is even worse than central defence when it comes to a lack of depth at the minute. We haven’t been linked with anyone, have we? Weird letting Longstaff go but not having anyone lined up.

Makes me wonder whether we plan on switching to 442?

As for Isak. Barca are going to need a Lewandowski replacement next season. He would be tailor made for them

Hopefully we get Sesko, move Isak on, and then set about putting the Isak money to use on some CB and CM targets.

Makes sense to get this little episode over with first so we know what the budget is. If Sesko falls through, then Isak stays and we spend the Sesko money on CB and CM.

Put YouTube on last night to see a load of ex-liverpool players talking about 'pecking orders' and suchlike and this is the trouble with football these days, we're not talking about Hartlepool competing with Liverpool but a club who's won a cup and qualified for the CL and done so in the past, there should be no reason why with some good recruitment and training they shouldn't be able to compete. Was there a 'pecking order' when Huddersfield won the title three times in a row? When did Liverpool have the absolute temerity to push in above their station? Was it ok then? Honestly, when I hear shit like that, get in the fucking bin, man.

Sky sports at pains to point out he prefers Man Utd despite them not making an offer

Agree on the latter but no one plays 4-4-2 anymore really and you think the way teams would outnumber us in midfield would make moving to a more possession based game tougher. I mean we don’t know what the plans are but we’ve almost always played 4-3-3 when everyone is fit with 3 at the back with wingbacks being the only real variation. Maybe played Isak as a 10 behind Wilson a few times but even then I think it was a change during a game rather than starting that way?

There’s only one thing worse than a dominant Liverpool in terms of media sycophancy in this country when it comes to sport and that’s if Man Utd were there instead. Even now the arselicking is off the scale. A lad who used to post on here referred to them as the de facto national team and that’s pretty much spot on imo

I cannot see 4-4-2 working for us. The only consideration for it is to get a second striker in. The midfield would suffer.

4-2-3-1 could work in a possession-based game - a lot of the top sides set up that way - but we’re about to sell the one player in the squad who could play as a number 10

I laughingly had some irony free yank trying to explain to me on blue sky why man United and Liverpool hardly ever buy their best players from each other. Apparently it's because they hate each other. Honestly, man. The globalisation of our league is fucking aids from owners to foreign fans who know as much of this countries clubs and histories than I do about writing code for Microsoft.

For all we know, he may well have preferred them, but they've done nothing but make noise through their surrogates, every chance he's thought fuck em, this other lot really want me.
