And even if he was, he'd be called Keith.

Liverpool, for me, are getting off this lightly by all the blame being placed firmly at the door of Isak and Lemic.

Those fuckers are complicit in all this.

Was thinking earlier mind - for all the club has been a bit of a shambles on transfers this summer, they've not really put a foot wrong on this. Assuming that they didn't know this was coming (big assumption maybe but I agree that the evidence points to this being an impulse from Isak rather than a planned move) then they've remained steadfast throughout, kept the drama to a minimum from our end, and left Liverpool in no doubt that all the fucking on behind the scenes with media and the player himself isn't going to change that position.

For all the claims to the contrary from the scousers, we have in fact handled this like a "big club". We haven't collapsed, we don't have an urgent and desperate need to get this over the line, we've told Liverpool to jog on and we're fining the player for being a twat.

Hard to argue with any of that really.

I think our handling of the Isak situation is exemplary evidenced as such in the way they're tending to attack our ability to source a replacement rather than handling the Isak situation itself - they're probably quietly impressed.

And the recognition needs to be further recognised how, in spite of this carry on, we've been able to prepare so well for the beginning of the season.

the really annoying thing is the squad would look in pretty good shape if isak hadn't played the cunt. we'd only be one striker signing away from having two quality options in every position

If you ask me Howe thinks he can reintergrate Isak back into the squad. Hes left the door ajar to a huge extent. If Isak is still an NUFC player on the 2nd September Howe will lead the players, staff and in some ways after the chants on Saturday most importantly the supporters in how his career at NUFC is rebuilt... am confident Eddie will manage that situation 👍

It's a really valid point, PL.

Howe is smart enough to know whether he is able to rebuild that relationship. I can't see him chasing lost causes so if he is leaving the door ajar which he's seemingly doing so, he must feel there's a genuine chance of getting him back within the unit.

Howe also has the gravitas, given what he's achieved for the club, the reach out to the fan base. He's very astute in how he approaches this I've noticed - remaining measured but also rightly saying the fans have the right, after the game, to say what they wish - they do, after all, pay their way.

The massive advantage he has over us, and especially over the media is he has the privilege of being able to speak with Isak directly.

If Isak signed a new contract and said sorry now, then he could possibly be forgiven. Possibly.

if the apology comes after Sept 1st then it’s a futile gesture.

As Ben Foster said, the last fans you should do this to is Newcastle.

BTW and I appreciate this might be considered to be a massive portion of rose-tinted spectacles but is there a better and more measured man-manager in the game today than Eddie Howe?

I dare say he'll be without doubt the best manager these players will ever work for. No doubt they'll talk about Howe in the same way players talked of Robson & Clough many years ago.

That's why many of us have said we would rather lose Isak than Howe. Totally agree with you

Howe is the glue that has held this club together over the past 4 years. Without him we would not have pushed on as well as we have and in the time frame we have - despite the fortunes of PIF.

His appointment is single-handedly the most astute decision taken by the ownership since the takeover. I give Staveley & Ghodoussi total credit for it, it was a masterstroke.

When you consider his record:

Season 1 - Recovering from rock bottom to 11th
Season 2 - Carabao Cup Finalists & CL qualifiers
Season 3 - CL campaign / 4-1 victory over PSG / consolidated top half league position

Season 4 - Carabao Cup Winners & CL qualifiers

Fucking remarkable really when you consider what has gone before.

Ha ... the world club champions tournament which didn't include the champions of Italy, Spain & England. Absolute toss-pot joke of a tournament.

I've got two mates who are Chelsea fans - one who is reasonable and readily admits that tournament is a farce. The other ... well let's just say he fits the mould and got very upset when I point out their European trophy looked like a waste basket. Apparently ours looks like a toddlers sippy cup!

Back to Howe though - the most poachable talent NUFC has got - by none. I fear other clubs coming in for him. I hope he's humble enough to want to finish the job here. And I never thought, when he was appointed, that I'd be thinking that way of him.

His achievements at Bournemouth before that are pretty decent as well.

I dunno man. I don’t doubt Howe is best placed to pull it off because of how much the real supporters respect him. If he says he backs Isak to reintegrate we will go along with it. But it’s a hell of a job. Isak’s burnt so many bridges, I think most of us want him gone now. Imagine the line of reception he’d get when he makes his first appearance off the bench at sjp after the shit he’s pulled this summer. It would require a grovelling apology/statement from Isak and probably the firing of his agent

There's no probably about that last sentence. His agent has to go. I wouldn't be surprised if that's a condition being talked about in discussions between club and player.

As for re-integrating him. Agreed - a massive massive task however if there's one person we're likely to listen to on this, it'll be Howe.

When Palace held firm with Guehi their chairman was the fucking king of the castle and welcome on every radio show or programme he fancied, (and Guehi wasn't working himself like Isak). It was all claps and handshakes all round he'd foiled those pesky Geordies, (who do they think they are?) I've seen scant evidence of anyone calling Liverpool out and saying if you want the player, pay NUFC's valuation and have done with it. We're expected to bend the knee and back down on OUR player but when it's us trying for some player it's PAY UP! And when we do meet the valuation and one of the cartel beats our wages it's lolz all round and know your place by the usual rent-a-gob merchants on YouTube and MSM. I fucking hope the owners have as long memories as we do because there's many a club, fans and their media lackeys I want to see fucking squirming in the future. Cunts.

Two fingers up to the players union then? Doing yourself zero favours, Alexander.
