Decent statement by the club, better than saying nowt for sure.

if he’s turned down a new contract (that was, presumably, the club trying to to make good on a promise post-Mitchell) then really Liverpool have fucked his career by lowballing us AND signing his replacement. At some point he’s got to see this aspect.

By slagging the club in public (when they were still trying / open to his departure) he’s lost any chance he had of the move and consigned himself to the history books, for the wrong reasons.

Now, unless he fancies going to court, his only way out is to sack his agent and push all the blame on bad advice.

If the team continues to struggle to score with Isak on strike then things will get unbearably toxic.

Eddie is just a man, but he’s going to have to work a legitimate fucking miracle to turn this around.

He can't go to court, he's got no grounds to go to court, everything is laid out in his contract, he's obliged to train and make himself available for selection, every time he doesn't do either, he can be fined two weeks wages.

Eddie knew this was the way it would end and has been very careful to not say anything that could be considered at all incendiary. So from that perspective he will be fine. The biggest obstacles will be Isak firstly as he has doubled down on his position with his statement and taken fire at the club. The other will be the rest of the team, whether they will be able to accept Isak back into the fold after he's publicly indicated he wants to leave in the way he has.

His agent and Liverpool have really fucked him over but at the end of the day the bucks stops with Isak and he has acted incredibly poorly and naively considering the year he has remaining on his contract. I'm not going to get fired up about it like others have on here. I won't take it personally but I can see why our players could and should.

I don't believe the club will resort to fining him immediately, but if he doesn't smarten up it will come. That will have a far greater effect on Isak and I'd say that would be the burnt bridges moment. Currently through their statement the Club has extended the olive branch to him, ball is in his court to smart up or fuck his career and his bank balance.

Yeah, I agree, they could be fining him already but they'll wait until the windows closed at the earliest, I wonder if there's a time limit on levying a fine 🤷‍♂️ be nice if we're just totting it up as we go for when (if) we decide to drop the hammer.

Nothing's really changed .. Howe will have approved the club's response which means he STILL thinks the cunt can be rehabilitated

And if Liverpool come up with an appropriate offer next week he'll be sold...

Great statement. Another firm reminder to every cunt that our position hasn’t changed and won’t be until Liverpool find it in themselves to do business properly and pay the going rate. That last paragraph has Eddie Howe all over it IMO. “When you’re done throwing your toys out the pram, you’re coming back to work”

He won't, unless we have two through the door as well as our £150 Mill.

I think the club saying they don't foresee the conditions being met is near enough an admission that we won't be bringing two strikers in.

Yeah, good on them - and why would you sign a new CF you don’t want just because a player, his agent and a rival club are trying to bully you into it?

Oh, and is it fuck about trust, an early transfer request would have signaled Isak's issue was indeed about trust and not simply about money, but as it really is only about money there's been no transfer request, funny how that works.

We wont get it like so it's all a bit moot...

I don’t think Liverpool will even offer it if we haven’t got a number 9 in.

It seems like we’ve at least tried to do this which would release him. I don’t think Howe wants him anywhere near the team anymore.

Shit and piss everywhere man.

What a statement by the club we've played this superbly. Funny that with no Eales and Mitchell at the club

Liverpool will try their luck with £110m again on deadline day. I’m sure of it.

Dipper (ex colleague) said last night he isn't worth £150m. I tried to explain how a player is worth and also asked is Wirtz worth what they paid.

He said they need two strikers. So my reply was they go all in to get Isak and then they get their second striker not the other way round. They clearly don't want to pay the money which is fine. But. They don't get the goods then. Joe fuck off

Just woke up having missed all this. The statement by Isak smacks of utter desperation. I don’t see how or why he’d say any of that if he’d been told there was a bid imminently coming from Liverpool. Also by alluding to promises without even coming close to revealing what they were he’s not saying anything of substance. It’s really just deflection from the way he’s behaved.
Great response in the very measured counter statement released by the club.
I also think, along with what a few others have said, that Liverpool’s genuine interest in signing him this summer pretty much ended a while back.

Source close. Fuck off man. It's fucking obvious he's fucking desperate and trying to force it.
