I cant see him being reintegrated into the team any time soon. The players don’t want him. As long as he's giving 100% then the players and Howe know that the best chance they have of winning matches is having Isak in the side. So long as he's doing the business, the fans will accept him in the shirt. But the idolisation and adoration ... that's never coming back. Holden's comment earlier about a partner having an affair but you keep it going for the kids is a decent analogy. There can be a future, but it'll never be the same as it was. The irony that he talks about broken trust. What's he done with the supporter base, who I note were NEVER mentioned in his rant BTW. It would take a massive, grovelling apology from Isak to even get him on the good side, but then it would be futile gesture as we know what he wants. Kid Dynamite 9340 Posted August 20 Share Posted August 20 This might have already been said, but the wording of the NUFC statement that no one promised him "he could leave the club" is key for me, and pretty much confirms that "broken promise" to Isak was that we would give him a new contract last season. I suspect Isak has announced to the club 2 weeks before the end of the season he wants to leave and won't be signing a new deal. When judging candidates, a key point is the motivation for the interviewee should be how they can contribute and improve the company, with reasons of personal advancement second. Isak's statement was just me, me, me. It stinks. He always seemed quite measured and calm when he scored his goals, didn't show the pure joy other players did like Gordon or Bruno, Burn, any of them. I think it's far more likely the statement was written for him and he didn't fully absorb it's content, or likely impact before hitting the 'Post' button.
