aye!

the first paragraph is a killer punch on its own....

Now that Alexander Isak is at the Instagram-meltdown stage of his summer-long tantrum, you might expect him to come to the table with a few facts. Instead, his attempt at soliciting sympathy for weeks of childish flouncing amounts to nothing more than an unsubstantiated claim that “promises have been broken"

I actually think it's nothing short of stunning how somebody who seemed to all intent and purpose a measured and intelligent bloke can so dramatically turn out to be so profoundly fucking stupid.

The tide has well and truly turned.

Yep. The last 24 hours have been great for us. Isak's post was a stinker. The club's reply was the perfect tonic and all the while Howe continues to come off looking like the only good man in a pit of snakes.

It seems like the narrative has shifted so much in 24hrs that Isak's reintegration seems almost inevitable. He's ruined his legacy with the supporters for nothing. For a summer spent sulking like an "ingrate". Perfect word for him.

Just woke up having missed all this. The statement by Isak smacks of utter desperation. I don’t see how or why he’d say any of that if he’d been told there was a bid imminently coming from Liverpool. Also by alluding to promises without even coming close to revealing what they were he’s not saying anything of substance. It’s really just deflection from the way he’s behaved.
Great response in the very measured counter statement released by the club.
I also think, along with what a few others have said, that Liverpool’s genuine interest in signing him this summer pretty much ended a while back.

I don't disagree with this, but by the same token surely Isak/his agent must believe there is still interest as they can't be naive enough to think that a basic move like his tweet is going to cause the club to u-turn on its position and accept a lowball offer.

£15 Mill lighter than we could have been (at £150 plus no need to pay bonuses) which would cover a nice raise for Sandro over a few years for example. But whatever floats your boat surrender monkey.

£150m and he's due around £15m in loyalty bonus or
£135m and he loses the loyalty bonus.

At the end of the day the net result for us is the same.

Look at the deluded and entitled initial response to that from a Liverpool fan. No acknowledgement of the fact that Isak is under contract for 3 more years. Failing to recognise that there would be no reason why anyone from Newcastle would have told Isak he could leave this summer.

Erm he has to put in a transfer request, that's a basic condition.

£150 Mill and we DON'T pay £15 Mill loyalty bonus = £165 Mill available.

£135 Mill and we DON'T pay £15 Mill loyalty bonus = £150 Mill available.

Yeah you completely missed the bit where I said we might accept £135m from Liverpool IF he submits a transfer request, else the fee is £150m.

Christ, this is tedious! :wallbash:

This is the line for me, like.

Fucking hilarious how Scousers think we're OK with Wissa doing it to Brentford. Not one of us have ever suggested this is the case. Talk about suiting their own narrative.

I clearly don’t have the same experience with NUFC strikers as you.

I knew my post was a potential for pelters, but it’s the only logical explanation for an insane situation I can reasonably think of.

Isak’s behaviour right up to the start of all this gave little indication of the shitstorm that was on its way.
Usually in cases like this it’s the inevitable end-game of a deteriorating relationship between club and player- not so with Isak.

His agent/agency are known wankers.

Footballers are thick as mince and have everything done for them.

All points to Isak being the recipient of some of the worst career advice in history, from people who’s motivation isn’t the advancement of his career, but the increase of their bank balance.
If his career is obliterated from this, they haven’t actually lost a lot of money from it, just lost a potential to make more. They’ll just move on to the next sucker.

It’s more to say that if, once he’s sat down with Eddie and the squad and made his apology ( which he will do if he stays), us giving him absolute pelters from the stands will be detrimental.

I totally understand anyone currently calling him worse than shite, I tend to agree, but ultimately I don’t think he’s some evil swine- just someone who has been guilty of listening to very poor advice.

Aye. He’ll be in touch with Liverpool. They are playing a game and i think both sides are still actively trying to work it out but i think we genuinely can’t get a replacement in so won’t sell.

Isak has gone balls out with that statement. No denying any leaked news as “paper talk” now.

Far from a potential for pelters, I think it's absolutely spot on!

The missus said to me earlier "do you think Nutsak will be welcomed again if he starts playing and scoring because that would make your fans incredibly fickle"

She's right, but show me a football fan that isn't fickle. Players come and go. The one constant in everything is the club and that'll always come first and if some mercenary bastard is, under duress, scoring goals that elevates my club in the league or a competition, then yeah, i'm prepared to turn a blind eye.

Doesn't mean I don't think he's an absolute cunt though.

Is that real? If that's real then he needs to pipe the fuck down and stay out of it - the last thing we need is the rest of the squad getting dragged into this noise.

EDIT - Ok thank fuck

I think he’s a cunt, but a stupid one, not an absolute one.

Nothing in the lead up to this showed him to be in the wanker category of player, it’s just weird to me that he seems to have totally 180°ed his entire professional and personal attitude in the space of a few weeks.

The only reasonable explanation I can see is , instead of having the proverbial angel on one shoulder and devil on the other, he’s only had the little devil whispering in his ear.

Also if you're being realistic it is likely that Brentford did tell a player with a year left on his contract that he could leave this summer. There's no way anyone at Newcastle would have said or even implied that was the case for Isak. But yes even with this monumental difference I've not seen anyone say they support Wissa downing tools.
