Whinging about Liverpool's lack of fire power (I think currently their defence is a bigger issue). Then this! Quote Obviously I would like to see the Swedish striker become a Liverpool player, but not at any cost, and the suggestion that the first £110m offer for Isak is 'derisory' is divorced from reality. If Liverpool bid more than £130m, it is too much. You would want Kylian Mbappe for the fee. He justifies this partly by saying Isak wouldn't be taking the penalties at Anfield. Same on you young Dazzler, shame
Alex 42149
I wouldn’t pay any attention to Carragher on a subject where he didn’t have a vested interest, let alone this.

Just the point that it’s particularly ridiculous here as he’s just acting as a Liverpool spokesperson. And didn’t he say Isak was worth £150n last season (or words to that effect)?

Dr Gloom 26352
i haven't seen much of sorloth but his goal record in recent seasons looks good, a goal every other game. he's also a unit at 6ft 4 and unlike wissa he is actually 29

rikko 105
Don’t know much about Sørloth. But stats last couple of seasons in Spain are pretty good. Prior to that, and his spell at Palace look pretty ropey. Also got in my mind that Joselu did well in La Liga and less than useless here…. If he’s in the sub £40 million price range probably a good deal as a Wilson replacement.
Kid Dynamite 9340
Jackson Watkins Strand Larson Ramos Sorloth Wissa would all be upgrades on Wilson who looked shot in his last 6months here. No of them is fit to replace Isak though, and I suspect that, unless some random name crops up next week, we hold on to him for at least 6/12 months while we source a long term replacement. Like shite would I be offering a new contract at this point. He's still £150m next Summer if anyone wants him.
Craig 12381
We shouldn't be offering Isak a new contract, but also his value won't be anywhere near £150m next summer either. If he goes next summer it'll be for somewhere around £100m.

If he goes next summer it'll be for somewhere around £100m. Based on Collymore's intepretation of the finances involved in transfers (I'm still struggling to believe this is true) then that might not even represent a huge loss. His book value drops by another £10m, Sociedad's sell on drops by about £5m and we owe him about £15m less on the contract that we would have had to pay up anyway if we sold him now. So next summer, if we sold him for £120m, it would be about as valuable to us as £150m now - but with the bonus of him playing for another season. If he goes for £100m then that season costs us £20m. I am very very open to being challenged on fantasy maths here (I still cannot believe I am interpreting this correctly but it at least seems to be valid based on Collymore).
Kid Dynamite 9340
If it was really 2 weeks before the end of the window that he announced his intention to leave, then it's shit timing. We could still have finished 2nd with 2 wins, had just won a trophy, were nailed on for a CL spot and knew we had a chunk of money to improve the squad. Makes me wonder whether the transfer is less about sporting ambition and more about doubling his wages

Makes me wonder whether the transfer is less about sporting ambition and more about doubling his wages of course it’s about money. If it was all about the broken promises and a lack of trust he would have out in a transfer request. Though I’m sure the idea of playing for the champions, who have a much better chance of winning something this season than we do, is also a pull.
