At least Isak had Wilson to share the responsibility with when he first came in. That’s why I’d hope we can get Larsen out of Wolves but if not, you’re probably looking at a stopgap PL striker for a year or so. Who that is, I have no idea Hold my beer 🤔
OTF 10613
If the fee of £125m with no add-ons or sell on is true then it stinks to high heaven. To him leaving I don't care, if we were stubborn and held him it would only hurt our own progression. The worst bit is that Liverpool have already played us at St James so he won't have to visit whilst the crowd venom is at a high. If we don't have a replacement lined up there will be a huge uproar over how it has all played out.

Liverpool have just waited, lowballed us again and got their man. It’s fucking unbelievable, man. Obviously, Howe and the players just want shot of the cunt and I support that but the idea Liverpool are getting him for a hair more than Wirtz is unbelievable. If £150m is the not for sale price, £130m IS close to it. £130m has been talked about as the realistic sale price all summer. If trophyshy is right and he eventually submitted a transfer request, that's saved us a bunch of cash too which has to be taken into account cos it's effectively an add on to the sale price. Isegrim 11894
At least it’s over. It happening on the last day of the transfer season was to be expected. There never was a cgance of us really getting 150m or close to it. 130m seems about right under the circumstances. The whole thing does leave a very sour taste though. I feel totally betrayed by a player who I really liked. The conduct of him as well as Liverpool stinks and I do hope it will come back to haunt both. I wish nothing but bad luck to both of them.

BobHopeandNoHope 771
Fuck off to the rats you skinny cunt, you’re well suited to the fuckers. Obviously that meeting with the owners was key to all this shit, said he’s never gonna play for us again which is what the owners told Eddie at the end of the match….and Eddie and probably the senior players have said, right we want the cunt gone and the most they could get has been this 125m shite rather than having the cunt stinking the place out they’ve wanted him gone, really hope we get a good striker in today or it’ll be ten times worse. But losing this skinny miserable cunt for less than his worth wont stop me being behind the team. Aye the owners have royally fucked up how they’ve handled it all and the lack of DoF etc but fuck me the club is in the best place it’s been in my lifetime and we have brilliant players, and this German kid could be as good a signing as the skinny cunt was. Howay, all of us have lived through shit owners decisions through our lives ….the cunts better learn from it though and make sure it never happens again. I wish the cunt nothing but misery in what’s left of his career. I feel nothing but hate towards the cunt, unlike loads of other honourable great players who’ve been sold before. I don’t think it’s possible to hate the murderers any more than I do, so fuck them. 5

toonotl 4681
Hopefully we have a great surprise in store in the next 12 hours in the shape of a brilliant signing. It looks like this was initiated by the club in the end. So, maybe I’m grasping at straws, but that suggests to me that we have a player lined up and wanted Isak out first so we get to “speak last” as it were by signing a replacement. Leaves us with a positive to end on and then on we go. If that’s not the case or our replacement is something underwhelming like a Jackson loan, then boy oh boy it doesn’t look good.

Mixture of emotions going on, but primarily a combination of let down, angry, disappointed, sad. This is 100% PSR related. We can't afford to burn a £130m asset to prove a point sadly
Holden McGroin 9903
I don’t think anyone wanted him to stay. I think it’s more the fact we’ve sold him to Liverpool (who have instigated this) and we don’t have a replacement in.

We've got rid of a lad who had become a stain on the club and it could have a genuinely transformative effect from a PSR point of view.
Kid Dynamite 9340
I hope the club chuck him under the bus with a parting shot. £130m is the 3rd highest transfer in football history I think. For a player who scored 23 goals last season. To put that into context, Haaland, Van Persie, Shearer, Suarez, Andy Cole, Kevin Phillips, Kane, Ronaldo, Henry all managed 30+ in a season. Isak is good. But he's not "that" good! And either him or Ekitike is playing second fiddle this season.
Gemmill 63200
I tell you what I don't want to see though. Any of our players wishing him luck on his socials when he announces the move. Toonpack 15593
Bottom line, the club are not going to do anything that Eddie isn't 100% on board with, there's no CEO or MD to overrule him, there's only Eddie when it comes to the players. His demeanour towards the snake had really changed in his last PC, I reckon it's nailed on he wanted him gone.

Aye, ever since the statement I think Howe's attitude has been I no longer care or want to be involved in anything to do with him. When he put that statement out saying promises had been made, whether he intended it or not, Howe was caught up in that and was being asked if he was the one that had broken promises. I think that was the end for Howe. We do need to get someone in today though.
NobbySol 425
Personally I think this is the best move for all parties at this stage. The guy is a poisonous rat & and has ruined our pre season and first 3 games. The chances are, he would have stunk the place out & every question until January would have been about him. £130m is probably the right amount and if, as suspected, we've "insisted" on a transfer request, it's very close to the fee we've been looking for. I don't see this as buckling at all. It's a necessary move & we've weighed up the long term damage the rat being here could cause. If Wissa or of ilk were already through the door, I think as a collective we'd be wiping our hands of it, moving on but hoping for an ACL injury on international duty because he's not fit.... Hugely important we get someone in today though. Muani, JSL, Wissa, Mitrovic (hope not), Jackson, Vlahovic as well as others not mentioned are still available. Why behave like we have all summer only to blink at the last minute? We apparently emphatically rejected £110m and then settled for just £15m more? At the end of the day we’ve given Liverpool the player at the price they probably were happy to pay all summer, the player has got the move by behaving in a disgusting manner and we’re left scrambling for a striker with just 12 hours of the window to go. You can do all the PSR calculations you want but ultimately we’ve been humiliated by this capitulation. We’re acting like a second rate club, not like one of the big boys. Craig 12383
Argh! I’ve slept on it and feel a little more pragmatic about the situation. Fundamentally we’ve rid ourselves of a problem and had he stayed, any news concerning us over the next 4 months would continue to be dominated by him. At least we are rid of that now. The massively important thing now is who comes in today. There’s a few things that are bothering me - none of which are fundamental. 1. We’ve strengthened a rival. 2. Our record fee received will, for some time, have his name against it. I used to have issue with seeing Michael Owen’s name against the record paid for so long. 3. It sets a dangerous precedent. I’m not saying all footballers are as bad as him, but there’ll be some who will observe this experience and conclude it’s the way to get what you want. I imagine this is similar to what Spurs fans thought about Campbell. At least we’ve commanded a fee for Isak. On the plus side he’s massively under scrutiny. Record British transfer fee - the 3rd time I think Liverpool had done that with us - and if he doesn’t hit the ground running, the critics will be out. Hope he goes 10 games without scoring. I don’t think he will though. Hopefully Elanga calls him a cunt to his face when they both report for international duty. When this completes our players will be quizzed on it. I hope they’re been given licence to say what they feel.
