toonotl 4681
I hope we’re not still in a position where we’re hoping to make last minute progress with Brentford on Wissa. If we’ve sold without something concrete in place in terms of an incoming then that is so fuckin stupid it’s beyond comprehension. We can’t be seriously hoping to negotiate with Brentford (or anyone really) with them knowing that we have no Isak and 125m burning a hole in our pocket with 12 fuckin hours left to avoid going into the season with one, unproven striker. That would be nothing short of outright stupidity.
Alex 42149
The vacuum in the boardroom has meant we didn’t get Wissa in right at the start of the window. For reasons I’ve previously mentioned I think this was entirely possible. Likewise it has allowed the Isak saga to drag on and massively hamper our start to the season. If we’d been able to have a frank discussion with the player and his agent by people who could actually make the decisions then I think he could have been allowed to go for circa £130m and by waiving any loyalty bonus. That’s what has happened anyway but it’s overshadowed the whole pre-season and the first 3 competitive games. That’s where we’ve been unprofessional in all this imo. I’m not excusing Isak in any way and wish him, his agent and LFC nothing but ill. But I also think the aforementioned vacuum allowed for those parties to exploit things to their own benefit. That is where the club needs to learn. The boardroom situation has been untenable for at least a year and needs to be sorted ASAP.

Remember just a few months ago after the Everton match when Yasir Al-Rumayyan left with just a single message: "Alexander Isak must not be sold"? Remember when we rejected Liverpool's first offer with such force that they said there's no point in coming back with a second offer? Remember when the club released a statement saying that Isak would only be sold for the fee we had asked and when we had signed two strikers? We have clearly capitulated at the last minute. We're not under PSR pressure. We could have held on to the player and seen what way the cards fell after the window. Instead we've given Liverpool and the player everything they asked for while we're left with William Osula and an untested German as our two options up front. It's a fucking shambles. spot on. it's fucking pathetic, regardless of how much the skinny cunt warranted being fucked off. not to those cunts at ANY cost. Reintegration would have been Eddie's job, "other people handling that" was get rid IMO Then don't reintegrate him. Let him rot until January. Even if we let him rot until next summer he wouldn't become worthless. Right now Liverpool were the only club interested but with 10 months to prepare there would have been a glut of clubs bidding to sign him. Even if we got less than £125m we'd have made a massive stand on principal. If there's one thing I expected by our Saudi overlords it's doing what is morally right. Toonpack 15593
15 minutes ago, ewerk said: It's not £15m though. According to Ornstein: "The deal is worth £130million ($176m) to Newcastle due to solidarity payments and will cost Liverpool £125m." Which is a bit like including the money we'll save by getting him off the wage bill. Ornstein 🙄 It was worked out somewhere I saw (a week or so ago) it totalled £11 mill -ish, nowt to do with his wages which over three years is about another £18 Mill saving if you want to go that route. And whatever we refused to pay him, you can be damn sure the murderers will make up, but that'll never be reported.

People on here have been saying "I fucking hope the rat isn't getting his loyalty bonus" and that has been confirmed to us. People wanted/needed to hear that the fucking rat hasn't walked away with his loyalty bonus. The terrible executive appointments, you'll get no argument from me on. It's irrelevant to the way Isak has been handled though. That is the important thing to me. Scousers reading this nonsense from Hope this morning will be pissing themselves at it. It certainly hasn't made me feel better...I couldn't give a fuck about it tbh.

Gemmill 63200
Ugh, roll on 7pm and hopefully a striker signing. I'm gonna try not to waste any more energy arguing with people on here about that pathetic fucking skinny cunt. He's gone. Good, and good riddance. 5

Despite them both reporting the same information. This is it. Hope is a NUFC mouthpiece as much as Ornstein is for Liverpool. It’s just that Hope has less reach. I think the truth needs to be read through the murkiness of some combo each one’s paid-for agenda. I’d definitely like Hope to be all facts no spin. But, man, I doubt it. He’s got a story to sell like they all do. And he knows we’re his readership.

The way in which this has played out has been hugely detrimental to the start of our season. In a competition where every point is hugely important we can't afford to give away points like we have. With a proper integrated premier league striker and none of the distractions of this saga at play we could well be sitting here with up to nine realistic points. Instead we have two and we're currently sat with our pants around our ankles. The frustration for Howe must be nearing boiling point.

That's obviously the way it works nowadays but they're just being used to create a narrative. Given the (lack of) money in journalism nowadays does anyone really think that the Daily Mail paid for a regional sports reporter to go to Korea this summer to report on a pre season tour? ... Hope is bought and paid for.

I think some folk (me included obviously) are just pissed off at this outcome and the way it has been handled. This is a message board after all and folk do express themselves here. 3
